We recently completed a table in straw marquetry, made for Peter Pennoyer Architects, featuring an unusual and interesting design. It is constructed with two tiers at reverse angles, creating a dynamic, functional shape. The straw was dyed to a custom color, lending to the subtle radiating pattern on the top and the shelf of the piece.
A new shipment of gypsum arrived at our workshop recently. A very difficult material to process, it will be used in a new prototype for which fabrication will begin shortly. Here at Atelier Viollet, we pride ourselves in being on the front lines of exploration when it comes to innovative applications of our favorite materials, including gypsum.
We are in the process of fabricating a beautiful extending dining table for Mary Delaney Interior Design. One of the more complicated parts about this particular table is the top inlay design pattern. The pictured inlay table top requires a great amount of concentration and attention to detail.
