Catherine Coutrier Galley presents Photographer Todd Webb, Oct.21 2023.

Todd Webb: Across America, 1955

Opens this Saturday!

We are delighted to announce Catherine Couturier Gallery's latest exhibition, Todd Webb: Across America, 1955, featuring the exceptional work of renowned photographer Todd Webb in collaboration with the Todd Webb Archive.

This exhibition, running concurrently with the Museum of Fine Arts Houston's Robert Frank and Todd Webb: Across America, 1955, exclusively showcases Todd Webb's captivating photographs.

In 1955, Todd Webb, alongside Robert Frank, received prestigious fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation for their ambitious U.S. survey projects. While Frank's iconic journey resulted in the groundbreaking book "The Americans," Webb embarked on a unique odyssey, traveling on foot, by boat, and bike across the United States to document vanishing Americana and the evolving way of life.

Saturday, October 21st

from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Please join us for the opening reception with a talk from

We had a ball at the Photography Show Presented by AIPAD in New York City last week. Photo collectors are back on the scene, and it feels good to connect over our favorite images. Patty Carroll’s irresistible work always draws people into our booth and sparks conversations about how it feels to be holed up at home and suffocated by stuff.

We featured contemporary work from artists Patty Carroll, Maggie Taylor, Wendi Schneider, and Susan Burnstine, as well as works from 20th-century masters of photography.

Our Expo Chicago Booth

“A madcap collection of luxury gone awry”

More often than not, artist Patty Carroll makes our gallery visitors laugh out loud. In its review of our AIPAD booth, Blind Magazine describes Patty Carroll’s work as “a madcap collection of luxury gone awry.”

Come see selections from Anonymous Women: Domestic Demise next week at Expo Chicago!

Catherine Courtlier Gallery, Catch the New Exhibits!

Remembering

George Zimbel

Photographer George S. Zimbel (b. 1929 Woburn, Massachusetts, USA) died January 9, 2023, in Montreal of natural causes. He was 93. Zimbel was one of the few surviving elders of photography faithful to the legacy of New York's Photo League who in the 1950s imbued their pictures with a personal commitment towards the people and the social landscape they documented.
