Long Island Grants for the Arts: 


One Day Workshops to Strengthen Your Grant Applications 

Saturday June 13, 2026

Sparkle on Stage Cultural Arts Center

Skill Building Workshops are professional development and technical assistance opportunities, offered free of charge, specifically designed for individual artists and arts & cultural organizations applying to Statewide Community Regrant (SCR) opportunities. Workshops will provide hands-on learning opportunities through concrete examples and practical applications to assist with best practices in community outreach, program marketing and promotion.

Skill Building Workshops are not Grant Information Sessions and

do not take the place of mandatory information sessions for any

Statewide Community Regrant (SCR) opportunity.



Workshop Focus Areas -

Community Outreach - Strategies and Building Connections

We will be joined by a panel of arts organization leaders and individual artists who will discuss their strategies for community outreach. Following the panel discussion there will be a Q&A and break out sessions to explore newly applicable strategies.

Elise May - Teaching Artist, Stage the Change, Program Director at Theatre for Dessert

Helen Dorado Alessi - Executive Director, Long Beach Latino Civic Association

Gabriella Grama - Mosaic Artist, Cultivating Havens for the Arts through Regional Murals (CHARM) Muralist.


Marketing & Promotion - Creating Effective Marketing Timelines & Publicity Plans

This workshop explores best practices for marketing and promotion for artists and arts & cultural organizations, with a focus on building visibility, strengthening audience engagement, and optimizing publicity efforts. Participants will learn practical strategies for creating promotional timelines and developing clear, consistent messaging across platforms to support successful programs and events.

Presenter - Adriana Devers-Rodriguez - Author and Founder at Cuentos de Triadas, Cultural Events Coordinator, 2025 NYSCA Support for Individual Artists Grantee.

 

Introduction to Canva and Eventbrite tools

Demonstration of online graphic design platform Canva tools available to create marketing and promotional materials. Introduction to online ticketing platform Eventbrite, to promote programs, and collect data to expand reach. We will be using the free versions of both platforms.

Co-Producer at Jazz at the Barn.

Fridge Fridge proudly presents the Blue Ribbon Dog Show at Gallery Onetwentyeight, a joyful, playful, and wildly creative exhibition celebrating dogs, art, and the wonderfully unpredictable spirit that makes Fridge what it is.

Featuring the work of Mim Viera, Kaitlin Martin, David Waage, Phoenix Roberts, Cassius Sonoquie, Jefre Harwoods, Hugh Burckhardt, Yuko K., Jason Smith, Crystal Wreden, Scarlett, Jim Savage, Toki Ozaki, “Doggie Boy” artist Eric Ginsburg, and friends. The exhibition brings together a pack of unique voices and perspectives for a show that promises surprises, laughter, color, and heart.

From expressive portraits and playful interpretations to imaginative canine-inspired works, the Blue Ribbon Dog Show honors our furry companions and the special place they hold in our lives and communities. True to the Fridge spirit — small but mighty — this exhibition embraces creativity without rules and celebrates connection, joy, and the the love of art.

Visitors can expect an unforgettable gathering where dogs, artists, and art lovers come together for an experience that is equal parts exhibition, celebration, and tail-wagging good time.

As one of the oldest art events in the country, the Peoria Art Guild Fine Art Fair is nationally recognized for its organization, event marketing, and for putting artists' needs at the top of the priority list. We offer affordable hotel rates, convenient artist parking, "grab 'n go" breakfasts each morning, boxed lunches, Saturday Artist Awards Party, snacks in the Artist Breakroom, cold water and hot coffee. Each year we have 200+ committed volunteers devoted to supporting artists’ needs and ensuring a successful Fair.



We were voted #88 in the Top Art Fairs in the Midwest by Sunshine Magazine in 2024!


Peoria is home to world-class medical facilities, Caterpillar (Fortune 50 Company), numerous IT companies, 4 major Universities within 50 miles, boutique shopping, quaint restaurants and bars, sporting and entertainment venues, urban living (the newly renovated Warehouse District which is located near the Riverfront), and a very active arts community.
