Poetry Reading by Danny Simmons with musician Eric Frazier Join us for a Poetry Reading by artist, author, and poet Danny Simmons accompanied by Jazz musician Eric Frazier. In addition to Danny Simmons' abstract-expressionist art practice, he is also the author of six books of poetry and the co-creator of the HBO series Def Poetry Jam (2002-2007). Eric Frazier is a Jazz musician born in Harlem and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Specializing in the Conga Drum, Djembe Drum, and African Dance, Frazier has performed in historic New York venues including Madison Square Garden, The Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Metropolitan Room, and The Apollo Theater. He has performed nationally in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Washington DC, and Los Angeles. This event is in conjunction with our current exhibition Danny Simmons: The Long and Short of It, curated by James Cavello, featuring over 30 paintings and works on paper, on view through November 12, 2022. |
