Westwood Gallery NYC is pleased to present NO!art: Downtown Rebellion, 1960s, an exhibition dedicated to the founders of NO!art: Boris Lurie, Sam Goodman, and Stanley Fisher. Featuring more than 20 paintings, works on paper, mixed media pieces, and sculptures from the 1960s, the exhibition revisits a pivotal moment in postwar American art. Curated by James Cavello, the presentation continues the gallery’s commitment to foregrounding historically significant artists emerging from downtown New York whose impact merits additional institutional recognition.
In the lower level gallery, Westwood Gallery NYC honors the legacy of pioneer New York City gallerist and champion of the NO!art movement Gertrude Stein (1927–2026) with a presentation of paintings, photographs and historical ephemera. The history of NO!art is connected to the history of Gallery: Gertrude Stein, and the founder’s tireless support for bold, experimental art practices.
The exhibitions are in collaboration with the Boris Lurie Art Foundation.
