No doubt many of you have noticed Venus rising higher each night as the Evening Star. I find it such a delight to watch her climb toward maximum elongation, followed 36 days later by the magnificence of her greatest brightness. Then, like a gently falling flare, Venus slowly descends toward Earth, moving into retrograde and her interior cazimi another 36 days later.

Watching Venus through her phases, not only through the signs has become an essential part of understanding her 19-month cycle, in which sign and phase align in the same way only once every eight years.
Currently, Venus is about 30 degrees ahead of the Sun in the zodiac and still has a long journey before reaching her maximum stretch from the Sun, continuing to move faster than the solar pace. If we recall, Venus first rose into the evening sky in mid-February in Pisces. Two weeks later, the USA and Israel declared war on Iran.
And yet, we so often hear that Venus as the Evening Star is the Goddess of Peace, while Venus as the Morning Star is the Warrior Goddess aligned with conflict, an idea strongly reflected within Mayan traditions.
This is exactly what I explore in the update I recorded for Kepler College a few weeks ago: the differing meanings attributed to Morning Star and Evening Star Venus across cultures, and how these meanings may stem from which disappearance of Venus into the Sun is understood as her descent into the Underworld.
