Joyce Raimondo, Education Coordinator, presents a series of workshops that explore creative vision through the eyes of artists. Following each presentation, participants will create their own art on Zoom.

Celebrate women’s history we discover the women who pioneered abstract art; Lee Krasner, Elaine DeKooning, Helen Frankenthaler, and others. Learn about their lives and their groundbreaking creativity. Following a presentation, tour the home and studio of Lee Krasner and her husband Jackson Pollock.

RIP IT UP! Lee Krasner Workshop

Discover innovative collages by Lee Krasner. Then tour the studio where Pollock and Krasner made abstract expressionist art. We’ll explore Krasner’s monumental collages made by ripping, cutting, gluing, and painting back into her former works to create new compositions. Joyce will then demonstrate collage techniques as participants work alongside each other on Zoom. Have supplies on hand for your project: one sheet of paper, scissors, glue, and a surface for your art such as paper, board, canvas, paint, or drawing supplies.

THROUGH THE EYES OF MODERN ARTISTS

Learn how modern artists such as van Gogh, Picasso, Magritte, Pollock, Krasner, and others creatively paint the human eye to express emotions, dreams, and unique ways of seeing the world. Then draw or paint your eyes to express yourself creatively. Have supplies on hand: mirror, pencil, eraser, sharpener, and three sheets of paper.

CHARCOAL DRAWING

Learn shading and modeling techniques as you explore the

wonders of charcoal drawing. This workshop will teach you basic charcoal

drawing skills and give you an overview of charcoal supplies. Supplies;

charcoal drawing supplies such as vine charcoal, compressed charcoal,

white charcoal stick, shading stump, newsprint, or charcoal paper.

(Participants are not required to have all of these supplies,

individuals can observe or attend with limited supplies.)

Guided by Joyce Raimondo, live on Zoom, tour the barn studio and the Harold Lehman exhibition in the Pollock-Krasner House. Lehman, an acclaimed painter, sculptor and muralist, was a classmate of Pollock's at Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles. His daughter, Lisa Lehman Trager, and grandchildren Lauren and Lee Trager, will share their thoughts on Lehman's creative legacy and his commitment to social justice through art. Lauren, an artist and educator, will also present her own artwork.

Celebrate Mexican Art


Celebrate the artistic achievements of the great Mexican muralists David Alfaro Siqueiros, Jose Clemente Orozco, and Diego Rivera. Discover how these artists inspired Jackson Pollock in the creation of his groundbreaking abstract expressionist art. Then live on Zoom, tour the barn studio where Pollock made his famous drip paintings and Lee Krasner created her abstract art.
