New York, NY (August 28, 2026) — This August, artist Cj Hendry will present Mere Mortals, a playful and nostalgic exhibition at Phillips New York, inspired by the imaginative world of trading cards and childhood toys.

 

The concept began at home, watching her children trade cards with friends, alongside the wonderfully strange toy creations that have long captured her imagination. Bringing her signature sense of humor and whimsy to the idea, Cj has created a cast of unexpected characters made from a mix of familiar forms and mismatched parts — a world of 52 original characters brought to life as collectible trading cards.

 

Complete with claw machines and collectible surprises, the exhibition invites visitors to play, explore, and reconnect with the excitement of childhood in a hands-on, engaging environment.

"Mere Mortals started as this silly, joyful idea watching my kids trade cards with their friends, and it turned into a whole cast of characters I couldn't stop making," said Cj Hendry. "Getting to bring that world into a space like Phillips, and have people actually play with the work instead of just looking at it, is exactly the kind of collaboration I love."

Trading cards and merchandise will be available for purchase on-site at Phillips New York from August 28–30 from 10 am to 6 pm. Prints and editions will be released online at cjhendrystudio.com beginning August 30 at 7:00 pm ET. Merchandise will include trading cards featuring 52 original characters, along with t-shirts, caps, pins, stickers, bags and patches.

Champions Named in Green and Performance Hunter Divisions at the 2026 Hampton Classic

Bridgehampton, NY – August 26, 2026 – The Green and Performance hunter classes concluded on Wednesday at the Hampton Classic, featuring several familiar faces in the winner’s circle when final champions were crowned. Among them were Scott Stewart of Flemington, NJ, and Victoria Colvin of Loxahatchee, FL, who earned tricolor ribbons across multiple divisions.  Celebrating 51 years of world-class equestrian competition in Bridgehampton, NY, the Hampton Classic features FEI CSI5* and CSI2* show jumping and USEF Premier hunter competitions with more than $1 million in prize money, August 23-30. Stewart rode two of the first champions crowned in the Aspinall Hunter Ring: Dr. Betsee Parker’s 9-year-old Oldenburg mare Rosewood in the Green Conformation 3’9” Hunter and Stephanie Danhakl’s 8-year-old Zangersheide gelding Cadet in the Green 3’6” Hunter. Michael Andrade of Poughquag, NY, and Susan Moriconi’s 7-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding St. Moritz earned the Green Conformation 3’9” Hunter Reserve Championship, while Colvin secured the Green 3’6” Hunter Reserve Championship aboard John & Stephanie Ingram LLC’s 7-year-old Westphalian gelding Cadiz.

Colvin also brought home the Green 3’9”/High Performance 4’ Hunter Championship with the 11-year-old Oldenburg mare Pavlova and Performance 3’6” Hunter Championship with the 10-year-old Oldenburg mare Odette, both mounts from John & Stephanie Ingram LLC. The Reserve Championships in both divisions went to Stewart, riding Rivers Edge LLC’s 13-year-old Selle Français gelding Encore and Dr. Betsee Parker’s 11-year-old Holsteiner gelding California Love, respectively.

In the Ollywear Performance 3’3” Hunter division, Kate Conover of Ocala, FL, guided Privet Farm LLC’s 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding Proud To Be VH to the Section A Championship. John & Stephanie Ingram LLC’s 12-year-old Holsteiner gelding Cheers! won the Section B Championship with Clayton Farrell of Venice, FL, in the irons.

Rated USEF ‘Premier-6’ for hunters and jumpers with designated FEI 2* and 5* jumping classes, the Hampton Classic features more than 200 competitions in six spectacular show rings, the Agneta Currey Boutique Garden with more than 70 vendors, and a wide selection of dining options, all on its world-class 60-acre showgrounds.   FEI competition begins on Thursday, August 27, with the $5,000 Citarella Open Jumper CSI2* and $32,000 CSI5* BrainJuice Two-Phase and continues throughout the weekend with seven 2*/5* classes featuring courses designed by Nick Granat (USA) and Anderson Lima (BRA). FEI competition also includes Friday’s $32,000 Wölffer Estate 2* Grand Prix Qualifier, $116,100 Douglas Elliman 5* Grand Prix Qualifier, Saturday’s $62,500 5* Winning Round, and culminates with the $70,000 Hampton Classic 2* Grand Prix and $400,000 Longines Hampton Classic 5* Grand Prix on Sunday, August 30. The $30,000 Longines Rider Challenges will also be presented on Grand Prix Sunday as two separate bonuses: $10,000 for the FEI 2* division and $20,000 for the FEI 5* division. Other competition highlights include the $10,000 Stomp Capital 1.40m Open Jumper (Tuesday), $40,000 1.45m National Grand Prix (Wednesday), $10,000 Hunt & Go Stake presented by The Baran (Thursday), $10,000 Harrods Junior/Amateur Welcome Stake (Friday), $10,000 Hermès Equitation Championship (Saturday),$30,000 Agneta & Brownlee Currey 1.45m Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic and $10,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic (Sunday).

Outside of the show rings, families can enjoy unique shopping in the Agneta Currey Boutique Garden and on Stable Row; hands-on activities, pony rides and petting zoo animals at the Kids Exhibition Tent; and many more fun activities during Kids Day (Saturday, August 29).   Daily entry to the Hampton Classic is $25 per carload which includes grandstand seating on all days except Grand Prix Sunday. Admission is free on Monday. Admission is also free on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for Seniors, members of the Military and those who bring three or more non-perishable food items for local food pantries.   Tickets for reserved grandstand seats for Grand Prix Sunday, August 30, are $75 per seat and are available on the Hampton Classic website. Raul Mourão, Abraham Palatnik, and José Dávila Nara Roesler, São Paulo / New York Exploring gravity, perception, and the relationship between material and space, Nara Roesler brings together sculptural practices spanning generations of Latin American art. Kinetic experimentation, architectonic form, and carefully calibrated arrangements of stone, glass, steel, and industrial materials create a dialogue around movement, balance, and physical tension. Moments of suspension and structural precision invite a closer consideration of how objects occupy, activate, and reshape the space around them.

Tessa Whitehead and Marisa Willoughby-Holland TERN, Nassau TERN presents two painting practices that explore femininity, motherhood, and the emotional pull of home, drawing on visual languages of the Caribbean. Lush color, surreal imagery, and intimate references to the natural world create works that feel deeply personal and transportive, moving between memory and lived experience. Together, the presentation offers an atmospheric encounter with Caribbean identity and womanhood.

Auudi Dorsey Refusés, London / New York Refusés presents a new body of work by Dorsey, shaped by archival research into the visual world surrounding blues and jazz performance. Paintings and sculpture trace the spaces, figures, traditions, and contradictions that have sustained these musical histories, moving between celebration, remembrance, and questions of visibility and recognition. Extending beyond the works themselves, a black-and-white checked floor recalling historic Southern jazz clubs transforms the booth into an immersive setting.

Mia Sandhu, Balint Zsako, and Michael Dumontier & Neil Farber Patel Brown, Toronto Foregrounded in a mode of figuration and conceptual practice attuned to lived experience, the body in Patel Brown’s presentation emerges not as stable or fully legible, but as politicized, relational, and continually in flux, shaped by external forces yet capable of resisting and reimagining them. Through the framework of body politics, works understands the body not as neutral but as a site onto which power, identity, and meaning are continuously inscribed.

Nate Lewis, Summer Wheat, Olivier Souffant and Khalif Tahir Thompson Zidoun-Bossuyt, Luxembourg / Dubai / Paris Centering materiality as a vehicle for identity, memory, and embodied experience, Zidoun-Bossuyt brings together three distinct practices across photography, mixed media, painting, and mosaic. Layered surfaces, sculptural relief, pattern, and tactile mark-making transform each work into a site of personal history and cultural reflection, foregrounding the distinct visual languages of each artist and allowing questions of representation, labor, and collective memory to emerge through the physical qualities of the works themselves.

Giulia Dall'olio, Franco Guerzoni, and Jacopo Mazzonelli  GALLERIA STUDIO G7, Bologna GALLERIA STUDIO G7’s presentation spans three generations of Italian artists, united by a shared commitment to small scale, material precision, and concentrated looking. Across painting and sculpture, fragments of landscape, traces of time, and references to sound and measurement embrace restraint, creating a quieter encounter in which time, matter, and perception become increasingly vivid the closer one looks.

Kanaria and Julie Navarro YOD Gallery + ZAZA GALERIE, Tokyo / Osaka / Kyoto For their joint presentation, YOD Gallery + ZAZA GALERIE bring together two practices that explore intimacy, perception, and our relationship to the living world. Dreamlike bodies, animal forms, veiled color, and atmospheric surfaces move between vulnerability and transformation, dissolving boundaries between the figure, landscape, and surrounding environment. The presentation unfolds as a sensorial dialogue between the corporeal and the ephemeral, connecting us as we continually shift in and out of view.

Henrik Godsk, Angus Hamra, Bridget Stehli, and Maximillian Daniels PIERMARQ*, Sydney PIERMARQ* presents four distinct approaches to contemporary painting, each grounded in a different way of seeing. Across the presentation, geometric forms, reconstructed personal histories, cinematic imagery, and luminous layers of color move between recognition and abstraction. Rather than following a single visual language, the works create a varied conversation about identity, place, memory, and how images form and are understood.

Layla Andrews, Gala Hills, and Constanza Pulit Soho Revue, London Soho Revue presents three artists whose work moves through imagined landscapes shaped by memory, myth, and emotional experience. Their paintings, prints, and mixed-media works bring together dreamlike figures, animal forms, tactile surfaces, and folklore, creating worlds that resist a clear distinction between the familiar and the fantastical. Rather than offering a single narrative, the presentation unfolds as a series of intimate and uncanny encounters with questions of identity, belonging, and desire.
