Featuring regional artists, this annual juried art exhibition gives cash awards for first, second, third places, and three ribbons for honorable mentions. Artists selected to participate in this year's exhibition are Shelley Bonner, Eugene W.R. Campbell, Jr., John G. Croom, Amiri G. Farris, Antwon Ford, Steve Hazard, Katherine Houghton, Hamed Mahmoodi, Judy Mooney, Bridget Murray, Hampton R. Olfus, Jr., Robert B. Reed, and Georgette W. Sanders.

Alvin Staley, this year's juror, is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has spent a large portion of his life living in South Carolina. Alvin received his early academic training in the public schools of South Carolina. He received the greater of his artistic training in museums, schools, and galleries in the Washington, D. C. area. Alvin completed the requirements for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education from Claflin University in 1976, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. In 1980, Alvin received an American University Fellowship to pursue studies in the university's Master of Fine Arts Painting program. During his first year at American University, he was selected to participate in the prestigious David Lloyd Kreeger Award Exhibit. In 1981, Alvin received his Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting from The American University in Washington, DC.

Alvin is listed in several editions of "Who's Who In America"and "Who's Who Among America's Teachers". He has exhibited his work nationally and has received numerous awards, including "Best in Show"at the 2003 and 2009 South Carolina State Fair Juried Art Exhibit. He is the "2002 NBSC Oil Painters Invitational Exhibit" First Placewinner. In 2011, Alvin received the South Carolina State Fair "Fine Art Spirit Achievement Award."Alvin is represented in numerous collections throughout the country.

Since 1976, Alvin has been an active artist and teacher. He has taught in the public schools of Greenville, Florence, Orangeburg, and Colleton County. He has also worked in the art programs of Morris College, Voorhees College, South Carolina State University, and served as Art Department Chairman at Claflin University. Currently, he works as an artist-in-residence for Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, and adjunct professor at Claflin University.

take Ferry to Staten Island walk 5 min.

Follow signs to the Staten Island Yankee Stadium. Exit the terminal and walk down the steps towards the ballpark. Turn left and walk up the ramp beside the ballpark. Cross Richmond Terrace. The 120th Precinct Police Station will be to your right. The Staten Island Museum is behind the police station — look for the "SI Museum" sign on the back of the building.

Monday - Friday: 11am - 5pm
Saturday: 10am - 5pm
Sunday: 12pm - 5pm

The Museum is closed on National Holidays: Independence Day
