We are presenting three distinct projects—Saya Woolfalk: The Woods Woman Method; Beyond the Margins: Bronx Museum Teens Activate the Permanent Collection; and Alex Strada’s Public Address! In anticipation of Saya Woolfalk’s inaugural installation for The Bronx Museum’s renovated main lobby, opening in 2027, the Museum is collaborating with the artist to share her creative process through The WoodsWoman Method. Woolfalk has envisioned the WoodsWoman as a botanist-healer and mythic character. The WoodsWoman Method functions as both an exhibition and laboratory, bringing together Woolfalk’s process materials from the project with works from the Museum’s permanent collection. Fourteen New York City high school students who completed The Bronx Museum’s Teen Summer 2026 program will present their own selections from the institution’s permanent collection, exploring how artists use art as resistance, challenge convention, and experiment with materials. Photo by Michael Oliver. We are partnering with Storefront for Art and Architecture, DSS, and the DCLA to bring artist Alex Strada’s project Public Address to The Bronx. Public Address platforms the perspectives of people living and working in NYC shelters through official DOT signage. Beginning September 14, you can see a central installation of signs at Joyce Kilmer Park with additional signage throughout the borough. Join free public celebrations for the project at the Park on Sep 23, from 5–7 PM, and at The Bronx Museum on Oct 9 from 6–8 PM.
