Ortiz has developed a distinctive practice spanning drawing, writing and typography. He makes drawings every day, turning his practice into a disciplined routine. Repetition, accumulation and subtle variations across different materials and approaches are part of Ortiz's process, allowing him to trace and question the passage of time. His major exhibitions include a solo show at the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires (2016), the Biennale of Sydney (2016), the São Paulo Bienal (2012) and the Lyon Biennale (2011). His work is held in the collections of MoMA (New York), the Centre National des Arts Plastiques (Paris), Deutsche Bank (Berlin), Kadist, the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros and the Museo de Arte Moderno La Tertulia (Cali), among others.
