The Art of Environmental responsibility and sensitivity. Be an activist!!!
I have my masters in Eco-awarness, photographic theory and environmental ethics. As a lifelong caretaker of the land, and all creatures that surround me. Jamie Forbes, Publisher of the Fine Art Magazine Blog, and SunStormarfineartmagazine.com touched by any effort to stop destruction or animal cruelty..
Big news: New York could soon become the first East Coast state to ban industrial octopus farming. Thanks to supporters like you, a bill to do that (Assembly Bill A8043C) recently passed through both the state Assembly and Senate.
Now the governor just needs to sign it into law — and you can urge her to do that.
Octopus farming raises serious concerns. It can increase pressure on populations of wild fish and shellfish caught to feed the octopuses. It inhumanely confines these highly intelligent animals in intensive farming conditions that raise the risk of disease outbreaks. It can harm marine ecosystems with pollution from waste, excess nutrients, and antibiotics dumped from tanks into the ocean. The list of problems is long.
By banning the commercial farming of octopuses, New York can help protect wildlife, marine ecosystems, public health, and our local economy.
Speak up for octopuses. Tell Gov. Kathy Hochul to sign this important bill into law. |
