PHILLIPS’ OCTOBER EDITIONS & WORKS ON PAPER SALES ACHIEVE OVER $4 MILLION
Auction Results Demonstrate Strong Demand for Andy Warhol, David Hockney, and Roy Lichtenstein, Among Others
New York, 22 & 24 October 2026 Sale Total: $4,026,348 / £3,010,456 / €3,593,374
Kelly Troester and Cary Leibowitz, Deputy Chairpersons and Worldwide Co-Heads of Editions, said, “The success of our October auctions in New York—compounded with our stellar sales last month in London—emphasize the continued interest from the global collecting community in high-quality editions and works on paper. With bidders from over 40 countries participating in the two days of sales, we saw particular enthusiasm for the work of Andy Warhol, with four of his pieces landing in our top 10 lots. Our dedicated Modernism auction, which has become a highly anticipated moment in the calendar, kicked things off with a bang, as a rare Salvador Dalà chess set sold for three times its estimate at $109,650, while Gerald K. Geerlings’ Jewelled City (Chicago) soared to $25,800 against a low estimate of $6,000. Surrealist and Avant-garde artists Man Ray and Victor Brauner attracted new attention to sale. Works by Frank Stella, Louise Bourgeois, Keith Haring, Anish Kapoor brought new record prices and works by David Hockney, Roy Lichtenstein, Donald Judd, Joan Mitchell, Nancy Spero and Mel Bochner also saw spirited bidding, a testament to the continued demand for high-quality prints and multiples.”
