Deaf View/Image Art (De’VIA) Storytelling with Maryam Hafizirad Artist and Educator Maryam Hafizirad invites Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing visitors to a Storytelling tour of Art Museum at the University of Toronto. Maryam’s guided Storytelling sessions use visual storytelling, ASL, gesture, body language, memory, and shared discussion to explore the works.  The sessions will be built around water as a central metaphor for Deaf life, drawing on ideas of flow, depth, current, and resilience to explore Deaf identity, memory, and lived experience. This metaphor offers a visual and embodied throughline that connects to the biennial theme Things Fall Apart, and to guided storytelling prompts around access, identity, rupture, language, resistance, visibility, and community. Throughout the Biennial we also welcome the public to join Drop-In Storytelling Sessions on Saturdays.  When: October 31, November 14, December 5 Where: Art Museum at the University of Toronto  This program is free, but registration is required in order to attend. Register Tetsuya Yamada’s Work at Select TTC Subway Stations The series of interchangeable statements that comprise Tetsuya Yamada’s work provokes dialogue around what we can learn from history and how to move forward to build a better society for the future. As a public text installation, WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO (2026) subverts a temporal disconnection between the present moment and future implications, opening the possibilities of what the artist has described as “future thinking.” This simple yet profound question has many interpretations. Yamada’s work will be on view at St. George TTC Station (Westbound Platform) until the week of December 20. You can also view the work at Spadina TTC Station (Yonge Subway Line, Southbound Platform) until early November. To access the work, located on the subway platforms, TTC fare is required to be paid at the platform entrances. Discover Dawoud Bey’s work at the AGO with Free Admission We invite you to discover Dawoud Bey’s powerful installation of film and photographs at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). Dawoud Bey: Material Histories, Living Landscapes anchors the tenuous relationships between North American landscapes and Black diasporic experiences. On view until Spring 2027, you can enjoy free admission to the AGO on the first Wednesday night of each month, between 6pm – 9pm. The next upcoming Wednesday Free Night is November 4.
