Something remarkable happened last week!  Thanks to the continued efforts of Cafeteria Culture and Debby Lee Cohen, Founder of Cafeteria Culture and previous guest on All That Buzz with Victoria, NYC schools issued a request for bids for a new school food compostable plate! Plastic foam (polystyrene) school food trays are on the way out and zero-waste public school cafeterias are almost here!  By cities purchasing collectively, the cost of an alternative tray/plate can be reduced, thus eliminating 2.6 million toxic and polluting polystyrene trays used per day in all six cities!
