Venice - Arte Laguna Prize extends the call for artists and designers to November 22, 2022
The jury will select between December and January the 120 finalists who will exhibit in the suggestive 4,000 square meters of the Arsenale Nord of Venice from 11 March to 16 April 2023.
The jurors, as in every edition, are new and important names in the current artistic panorama and this year they come from the African, European and American continents: Mohamed Benhadj, curator for the territories of North Africa and Spain and founder of AlTiba9; Raphael Chikukwa, director of the National Gallery of Zimbabwe; Giulia Colletti, digital curator for the Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art in Turin; Paul di Felice, curator, critic and art historian based in Luxembourg; ChloƩ Hodge project manager at Tate Britain in London, curator and producer; Dick Spierenburg, creative director of IMM - Cologne International Furniture Fair; Xiaoyu Weng, curator based in New York and Toronto, head of Modern and Contemporary Art at AGO, the Art Gallery of Ontario.
Alongside the jury there will also be the Advisory Council composed this year by the art critic and curator Luca Beatrice, Alberto Torsello winner of the Compasso d'Oro 2018 and Xing Dong honorary president of the China Fujian Graphic Design Association (Fgda), Artistic Director of Mansion Art Museum and Artistic Director of Xiamen Ximind Culture Center.
The works evaluated will be from the sections of: painting, sculpture and installation, photographic art, video art and short films, digital art, digital graphics and cartoon, land art, urban and street art, performance, art design.
All the opportunities for artists and designers:
- the collective exhibition at the Arsenale of Venice from 11 March to 16 April 2023;
a solo exhibition at the Cris Contini Contemporary Gallery in London;
art residencies at BigCi in Australia, Espronceda in Barcelona, Farm Cultural Park in Favara, Sicily, Fabrica Benetton in Treviso, Fonderia Artistica Versiliese in Pietrasanta (LU);
an exhibition of video art works in Beijing;
€ 5,000 for the realization of a site-specif installation for Roberto Cipresso Winery in Siena with an art residency included;
€ 3,000 for a special prize dedicated to Sustainable Art and focused on the artistic reuse of cork. The prize is created in collaboration with Contarina Spa of Treviso and f Ca' Foscari University of Venice;
- participation in BJCEM Mediterranea 20 - Young Artists Biennale in 2024;
- a prize of 3,000 € given by Planium for a work that uses the brand's steel to create a new product;
€ 2,000 for the Generali special prize for the artistic proposal which create a link between the theme of water, sustainability and the vision towards the future;
- € 4,000 offered by Venpa for the work that enhances the combination of heaven and earth;
- € 3,000 for a work focused on digital transformation granted by Informatic All;
All contest participants have free visibility on the ArteLaguna.World digital platform to be able to sell their works.
Arte Laguna Prize continues in its mission of promoting and discovering new talents from the International Contemporary Art system, thanks to its network of collaborations that by now reaches the whole world.
