Watercolour on Paper on Cardboard, 1914
Kairouan II is one of the extremely rare and coveted watercolours by August Macke, which were created during his famous trip to Tunis with Paul Klee and Louis Moillet in 1914. It is the second of three watercolours painted in front of the city walls of Kairouan in Tunisia: the other two works are now in museums in Munich and Münster.
