Action! French and American Women DirectorsEvent: Saturday Mar. 8, 2014
In celebration of International Women's Day, New York Women in Film and Television, the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), and Unifrance Films hosts a screening and panel to honor women filmmakers on both sides of the Atlantic.

This special evening will feature a screening of CInEAST(E)S, a documentary by Julie Gayet and Mathieu Busson that explores the role of women in film from the perspective of 20 acclaimed French women directors. Participants in the project include Agnès Varda, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Rebecca Zlotowski, Julie Delpy, Mia Hansen Love and Katell Quillévéré.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with award winning French and American women directors who will provide further insight into the underrepresentation of women in film. Slated to appear are Deborah Kampmeier (SPLiT, Hounddog), Stacie Passon (Concussion, Futurestates), Katell Quillévéré (Suzanne, Love Like Poison), Axelle Ropert (Étoile Violette, Miss and the Doctors), Ry Russo-Young (Nobody Walks, You Won't Miss Me), Justine Triet (Age of Panic, Two Ships) and Rebecca Zlotowski (Grand Central, Belle Epine).
The panel will be moderated in English by Isabelle Giordano, Executive Director of Unifrance Films.
Action! is part of Rendez-Vous with French Cinema at the Film Society of Lincoln Center.
Isabelle Giordano, Moderator, is the Executive Director of Unifrance Films. Giordano is a former French journalist with many years of print, television and radio journalism experience. For the past two decades, she has hosted her own shows on major TV platforms in France such as Canal +, France Télevisions and Arte. Giordno has also hosted prime time radio morning shows on France Inter, one of the key public radio stations in France. She has written six books, and continues to produce cultural and civic news devoted to connecting artists, ideas and stories, as well as empowering consumers and society.
NYWIFT programs, screenings and events are supported, in part, by grants from New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, and New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
