ART DUBAI TALKS PROGRAMME 2023
Each year, Art Dubai convenes a broad cross-section of the brightest cultural and creative minds to exchange ideas. Continuing our commitment to dialogue, diverse voices and the development of Dubai’s cultural infrastructure, the 2023 talks programme will be the largest to date, with over 50 sessions across five days.
Highlights include the 16th edition of our flagship Global Art Forum; the Middle Eastern debut of Christie’s Art+Tech summit; a series of Modern and Collector talks developed in partnership with Dubai Collection; and the inaugural Dubai edition of the Art Business Conference.
GLOBAL ART FORUM 16
Art Dubai's celebrated transdisciplinary conference, the Global Art Forum, returns for its 16th edition to explore the theme “Predicting the Present”. Commissioned by Shumon Basar, and taking place across two days, the Forum is interested in navigation tools for our uncertain times and how stories, experiments and speculations about culture, innovation and society point toward new sources of optimism.
CHRISTIE'S ART+TECH SUMMIT
Christie’s brings its renowned Art+Tech summit to the Middle East for the first time at Art Dubai. The agenda-setting conference will explore the areas of AI, digital asset ownership, financial innovation and Blockchain bringing together international creators and collectors across art and technology. Attendees will hear from and interact with innovators at the forefront of building and developing disruptive new products and businesses including leading regional speakers such as Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and Founder of Careem.
By invitation only.
Art Dubai Modern guest curators Mouna Mekouar and Lorenzo Giusti invite speakers to advance a critical reflection on the status of modern art in the territories of North Africa, Middle East and South Asia. These conversations re-appraise art-historical canons and investigate the historiography of mid-20th century abstraction, production and the reception of works. Panelists include Member of the Dubai Collection Curatorial Committee Dr. Nada Shabout, and Director of Sursock Museum, Beirut, Karina El Helou.
This series focuses on the collectors driving the development of art scenes across the Global South; emerging trends in traditional and digital collecting across the region, and what it means to be an arts patron in a place that is developing and implementing new institutional models. Speakers include Guerlain Master Perfumer Thierry Wasser, Senior Curator at the Pinault Collection Caroline Bourgeois, founder of Teo Yang Studio Teo Yang, and collector Charif Ben Romdane.
ART BUSINESS CONFERENCE
