Berenson Fine Art has the pleasure of presenting an online exhibition of works on paper by Marco Sassone. The show, which runs from November 23 through December 15, 2022, includes a collection of watercolours, pastels, charcoal drawings and silkscreens.
For over fifty years, Marco Sassone has built a body of work pervaded by the joy of painting what truly pleases and fascinates him. His highly personal palette imbues his pictures with warmth and vitality and with the same degree of focus and emphasis, as equal components of the artist’s vision. Some of his notable cycles include his series of urban landscapes; the raggedly beautiful coast of Amalfi and the Cinque Terre; the Venetian Lagoon with its narrow winding canals that invite you to turn towards new directions, new discoveries; and his extensive series of railroad tracks—gritty scenes that find beauty in the industrial landscape.
Describing Sassone’s work, Maria Porges, critic for Art in America writes:
“These places are seen from the distance of affection mixed with longing, of memory mixed with the immediacy of everyday experience. Through Sassone’s vision of the two worlds in which he will always live, we can experience what it is like to find ourselves far from where we started, yet be at home wherever we are." |
