CALL FOR ART! UNDER THE SEA: IMMERSIVE LIGHT & ART EXHIBITION IN THE GALLERY


The Islip Arts Council invites artists to dive beneath the surface and help transform our gallery into an immersive underwater world filled with art, light, sound, and imagination.


We welcome traditional and contemporary interpretations of the ocean, marine life, fantasy, conservation, and the mystery of the sea.


We are seeking:

Painting • Photography • Mixed Media • Sculpture • Resin • Ceramics • Fiber Art • Installation Art • Immersive Installations

Glow-in-the-Dark & UV Reactive Artwork is Highly Encouraged

Short Films & Digital Media Wanted in mp4 of iMovie format


We are especially interested in:

• Underwater films

• Animation

• Projection art

• Experimental video

• Digital art

• Ocean-inspired visual storytelling


Short films (approximately 1-6 minutes) will be featured in our Digital Ocean Theater throughout the exhibition and festival.


Help us build an unforgettable experience incorporating:

• Jellyfish

• Coral reefs

• Large sea creatures

• Hanging sculptures

• Light installations

CALL FOR ART! PERMANENT EXPRESSION: GRAFFITI, TATTOO, AND THE EXTRAORDINARY


Exhibition Period: October 1 -31

Entry Deadline: September 22nd


The Islip Arts Council is curating a special exhibition presenting the bold, expressive worlds of graffiti, tattoo art, and all things extraordinary. This exhibition invites artists to explore the creativity, craftsmanship, and cultural impact of these dynamic art forms, showcasing work inspired by street art, urban aesthetics, tattoo design, contemporary body art as well as art out of the social norms.


From intricate tattoo flash and illustrative designs to vibrant graffiti lettering, murals, and street-inspired compositions, we are seeking artwork that reflects the energy, individuality, and storytelling found within these artistic traditions. This exhibition celebrates art as a form of personal expression and visual identity, highlighting both the rebellious spirit of the streets and the skilled artistry that transforms ideas that are beyond average into lasting images. Submissions may range from traditional and realistic styles to abstract and experimental.


All ages are welcome to submit. No size limitation. All media will be considered.


Dates to Remember:

Submission Deadline: September 22

Artist Notification: September 23, End of business day

Artwork Drop-Off: Friday, September 25 - Saturday, September 26 from 11 am - 4 pm

Exhibition Dates: October 1 - 31

Opening Reception: Saturday, October 10, 6 - 8 pm

Artwork Pick-Up: Tuesday, November 3 - Wednesday, November 4 from 11 am - 4 pm


Submission Fee:

$25 for members (Become a Member at isliparts.org)

Join the East Islip Art Walk, a much-anticipated event in our community attracting art lovers, families, and visitors from everywhere.


What's Art Walk?

Art Walk is a day where local talent meets food & local businesses and participants come together to experience our community with music and creativity, celebrating local art & culture in East Islip. 


This event is FREE and open to all ages! Enjoy some of Long Island's best talents in live music and artist vendors throughout main street, beginning at the American Legion Hall and ending at Momentum Rehabilitation.

Join us for an enchanting evening celebrating art, light, creativity, and the beauty of the ocean.


Under the Sea Light & Art Festival will be held outdoors and will include an artisan night market, glowing art installations, interactive light experiences, live music & more! This family-friendly fun event is FREE!


BECOME A VENDOR

We are looking for artists, makers, crafters, and specialty vendors whose work complements the festival's aquatic, coastal, and imaginative themes.


This is a night time event, illuminate your booth

(Best decorated booth gets a prize), so lets see those Lights!

Make sure you have weights to hold your tent down if you have one.

SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK

A Midsummer Night's Dream, a comedy by William Shakespeare, will be performed live and in full costume!


Presented by the Islip Arts Council & Studio Theater of Long Island Shakespeare Troupe


Written by William Shakespeare between 1594 and 1596, this play is set in Athens and consists of several subplots revolving around the marriage of Theseus and Hippolyta. One subplot involves a conflict among four Athenian lovers. Another follows a group of six amateur actors rehearsing the play which they are to perform before the wedding. Both groups find themselves in a forest inhabited by fairies who manipulate the humans and are engaged in their own domestic intrigue.

Summer Concert Series at Bayard Cutting Arboretum


Spend a Sunday afternoon at the beautiful Bayard Cutting Arboretum. Enjoy lunch at the Hidden Oak Cafe and bring a chair or blanket while listening to live music at the lower carriage house, along the Connetquot River.

Concert begins at 2PM.
