Students Celebrate Opening of Long Island’s Best 2026

The Museum would like to congratulate all of the exhibiting artists and award winners for Long Island’s Best: Young Artists at the Heckscher Museum 2026Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, Long Island’s Best is the only juried exhibition for Long Island high school students that provides the opportunity to exhibit in a museum.

Take home a unique artwork at Long Island’s Best 30th Birthday Bash!

Join us on April 18 for Long Island's Best 30th Birthday Bash for the opportunity to take home a unique artwork created exclusively for this event by a Long Island’s Best Alumnus or Local Artist! All ticket holders and sponsors at the VIP level and above receive unique 10x10 artwork.

Jessica Rosen, Curatorial Assistant, is leading a presentation for a number of Long Island Public Libraries with the Long Island Reads initiative. Take a behind-the-scenes look at the collecting strategies of The Heckscher Museum of Art, tracing how it has transformed over the years. This presentation illuminates the often-invisible work of collection management, the stories behind key acquisitions, and the ways museums serve as guardians of our shared cultural memory.

Long Island's Best Artwork is Catalyst for Long Island Cares Food Drive

The Heckscher Museum will be collecting non-perishable food donations for the run of the exhibition Long Island’s Best: Young Artists at The Heckscher Museum. The donations will go to Long Island Cares, the Harry Chapin Regional Food Bank. The campaign was inspired by the work of Hicksville High School artist Pooja Shah, a 12th grade student exhibiting in Long Island’s Best 2026.

Please Note: The Museum will be closed to the general public Saturday, April 18 for Long Island’s Best 30th Birthday Bash. Learn more and purchase tickets here.
