Binh Danh, Chris McCaw, and Meghann Riepenhoff are included in Ansel Adams in Our Time, opening at the de Young Museum on April 8. Ansel Adams in Our Time places the work of photographer and environmentalist Ansel Adams in dialogue with the photographers who influenced him, as well as 23 contemporary artists whose practices engage anew with the sites and subjects that occupied Adams throughout his life—from national parks to the use and misuse of natural resources. Adams’s legacy continues to inspire and provoke, influencing how we envision the landscape and serving as an urgent call to preserve our environment.
Ansel Adams in Our Time was organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in partnership with the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. The exhibition was curated by Karen Haas, Lane Senior Curator of Photographs, MFA Boston; and has traveled to the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, AR (2020-21); and Portland Museum of Art, OR (2021). |
