THE COMPETITION:
The annual Hampton Classic Horse Show, one of the nation's premier show jumping competitions, returns to Bridgehampton, NY, for its 39th year, August 24-31. The Classic hosts exciting hunter/jumper competition from junior levels up to the pinnacle of the sport, grand prix show jumping, featuring the $250,000 Grand Prix and World Cup™ Qualifier on Sunday, August 31.
Sunday, August 24 - Leadline classes, Opening Day Ceremonies andthe $50,000 Hampton Classic Hunter Derby, presented by MeadowView Farms highlight The Atlantic Opening Day at the Hampton Classic. Local classes take place in other rings throughout the day. Competition begins at 8:00am.
Monday, August 25 - The Finals of the Long Island Horse Show Series for Riders with Disabilities will be the highlight of competition beginning at 10:00 am. Spectators are also invited to shop in the Boutique Garden or visit the Exhibition Tent. The Hampton Classic will host ASPCA Adoption & Animal Welfare Day, another highlight of the day. Adoptable cats, dogs, rabbits, and even pot-bellied pigs will be in the Kid's area from 11:00-2:00 and adoptable horses will be showcased in the Anne Aspinall Ring from 12:00-2:00. There is no admission charge on Monday.
Tuesday, August 26 - Tuesday's events include the Marshall & Sterling Children's Hunter Classic, Newsday Open Jumper Class, $20,000 Open Jumper Challenge, Amateur-Owner and Junior Jumpers, and Green Working and High Performance Hunters, as well as the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search.
Wednesday, August 27 - Competition continues in Amateur-Owner, Junior, and Wölffer Estate Open Jumper Sections. Adult Amateur Hunter classes are also featured, as are the Green and High Performance Hunters. The top up-and-coming young horses will compete in the first round of the SHF Enterprises 5 Year Old & 6 Year Old Young Jumper Championships Presented by Split Rock Farm. The short-stirrup competition will take place in the Annex Ring.
Thursday, August 28 - The week's jumper competition continues with the East Coast Young Jumper Championships as well as Adult Amateur, Children's, Amateur-Owner, and the $10,000 Douglas Elliman Open Jumpers, in addition to the $5,000 EnTrust Junior Jumper Classic. In addition, there will be $2,500 Marshall & Sterling Adult Amateur Hunter Classic, Adult Amateur Hunters, and Junior Hunters. The $5,000 Strong's Marine Amateur-Owner Jumper (low) Classic, and the Adult Amateur Hunter Classic are also scheduled. The featured equitation class will be the two-phase $10,000 Sam Edelman Equitation Championship.
Friday, August 29 - Friday features a day of qualifying events in the Grand Prix Ring in which top show jumpers vie for slots in Sunday's exciting Grand Prix Ring competition. Starting at 8:00 a.m. is the $10,000 Junior/Amateur Welcome Stake, followed by the $15,000 Speed Derby. The$50,000 Grand Prix Qualifier, presented by Longines, scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start, will set the participant list for Sunday's$250,000 Grand Prix and FEI World Cup™ Qualifier. The schedule also includes Amateur-Owner Hunter classes. Friday evening's Exhibitor Party runs from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and will include a "horseless horse show" to benefit JustWorld International.
Saturday, August 30 - Optimum® Kids Daywill feature plenty of activities for the entire family from 10:00 am-2:00 pm. Children under 12 are admitted free and receive a free pony ride. The feature competition will be the $40,000 Longines Cup at 2:00 p.m. In addition to the Pony Hunter Classic, the day features the Adult Amateur and Children's Jumper Classics and the $15,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic.
Sunday, August 31 - The $10,000 Hermès Hunter Classic is among the featured competition on Grand Prix Sunday. Festivities in the Grand Prix Ring begin with the $30,000 7- & 8-Year-Old Young Jumper Championship Finals, followed by the $25,000 Show Jumping Derby, the and the grand finale - the $250,000 Grand Prix and FEI World Cup™ Qualifier, a featured event in the $200,000 Taylor Harris Triple Crown Challenge and a qualifying competition for the 2015 Longines FEI World Cup Finals in Las Vegas next April. The winner of the $30,000 Longines Rider Challenge will also be presented.
