The 17th edition of ULTIMATE was 100% sold, with Maria Svarbova’s Grössling City Bath realising a world auction record at £38,100. Eight out of the eleven artists featured in ULTIMATE achieved world auction records, seven of those artists are women, and four are Korean. The compelling response from our global collecting community for contemporary Korean photographs in our sale today demonstrates the growing demand for works by trailblazing image-makers from that region. We were particularly pleased with the result achieved for Rala Choi’s auction debut with A woman lying on the sofa which soared to £27,940, over double the estimate.
