Yoga Classes at The Museum Upcoming Yoga Offerings  at the Museum Chair Yoga With Angela Strynkowski This gentle yoga class uses the support of a chair for yoga poses and gentle stretches. Participants will learn how to breathe more efficiently and move with mindfulness, while stretching and toning their bodies. Safe for anyone with limited mobility, pregnant women, and those with existing medical conditions. Wednesdays:  11:00 am - 12:00 pm Session D: February 12, 19, 26, March 4, 1, 25 (no 11th and 18th) Session E:  April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, May 6 Session F: May 13, 27, June 3, 10, 17, 24 (no may 20th)  Member Fee: $45 per 6 week session  Non-Member Fee: $70 per six week session Drop Ins Welcome $12 Gentle Restorative Yoga  With Angela Strynkowski Gentle Restorative Yoga blended with Pranayama (yogic breathing practices) for balancing, healing, and calming the body and mind. Yoga Props (blocks, bolsters, and blankets) are supplied to allow the body and mind to let go and deeply relax into each posture. Through mindful work and attention to the breath, students will learn safe alignment in basic postures and sun salutations. Build strength, flexibility, balance, and awareness to prepare to enter more advanced classes safely. Spend an hour stretching, breathing, and strengthening your body through yoga practice. Bring your own mat and water bottle. Thursdays: 9:45 am - 10:45 am  Session H: January 30, February 6, 13, 20, 27, March 5 Session I: March 19, 26, April 2, 9, 16, 23 Session J: May 7, 14, 21, 28, June 4, 11 Member Fee: $45 per session  Non-Member Fee: $70 per session NEW CLASS: Gentle Yoga with Angela Tuesday 11am  Gentle yoga is a yoga style which as its name suggests, is very gentle in its approach and therefore, not as strenuous as the other practiced forms of yoga. Gentle Restorative yoga, because of its innate gentle nature, is perfect for those who cannot meet the demands of physically straining exercises.  A typical gentle yoga session consists of slight modifications of the standard poses of hatha yoga.  The ultimate aim of this kind of practice is to make sure that the practitioner does not experience any discomfort while performing the pose. With a generous use of props and breathe work the practioner will be asked to practice a level to promote deep relaxation through deep and gentle stretching. In addition to making modifications in the poses and lowering the intensity of the practice, in gentle yoga, the pace of the performance of the poses is also much slower. The practitioners are given time to perform the poses so that they are comfortable.  The body is also given adequate time to recover between poses.  We will end our practice with a deep rest. Meet Our Yoga Teachers at IAM Katrina Kuan  Katrina considers herself both a student and a teacher of yoga when she graduated under A Jewel in the Lotus School in 2019 (RYT 200). Her class welcomes all levels where one can find their sense of relaxation in a soft meditation in the beginning of class followed by poses that are broken down to fulfill their best alignment.
