Spring has finally sprung here in Chicago, and after such a chilly winter, we couldn't be happier! Speaking of Spring, be sure to read about the springing areas of brass our Furniture Department repaired on Abraham Lincoln's Portable Bar. They also fabricated some missing elements of the piece, making it one of our most exciting treatments completed this month. Conservation and Creation: Restoring Lincoln's Portable Bar   Abraham Lincoln’s Portable Bar was brought to us with missing brass inlay, non-original feet, and a missing key, among other things. Preserving a Piece of Chicago History   Our conservators love to work on pieces that showcase our city’s extraordinary history. It was a treat for our Paper Department to work on a series of twentieth century membership photographs from the Chicago chapter of the Scottish Rite. The photographs were taken and developed by one of the Chicago’s earliest photography studios.
