Going to Frieze New York Catch the Haines Gallery booth C15

Haines Gallery at Frieze New York 2019

Solo presentation by Kota Ezawa

Booth C15
Randall's Island Park, New York, NY
May 2-5, 2019
Kota Ezawa repurposes iconic images from the news, art history, and popular culture to explore how they shape public memory and mediate actual events and experiences. At Frieze, Haines Gallery presents one of Ezawa’s best-known video works, The Simpson Verdict, as well as pieces from two recent series. The Crime of Art, a video and related lightboxes, chronicles high-profile museum heists and acts of art vandalism in real life and Hollywood films. National Anthem, Ezawa's latest body of work, draws from broadcast footage of NFL athletes protesting the oppression of people of color; the resulting watercolors offer a powerful meditation on solidarity and hope.
