In this beginner friendly course, you will learn all essential basic sewing skills needed to sew with confidence. Learn how to layout and cut a pattern, sew in darts, machine finished or French seams, how to make self-fabric bias tape, and sew in machine button hole.
Our finished project will result in a fun, one-of-a-kind, beautiful wrap skirt perfect for the spring or summer season ahead.

In our Paint Like A Master Paint & Sip Series, students recreate a new painting each month made by the classic Masters - from Van Gogh to Kandinsky to Monet & beyond.
This month, we will paint Surrealist Painter Rene Magritte's painting "Spring," created in 1965. All painting supplies and step-by-step demonstration will be available. $40 / All supplies and wine will be included.

| LIFE DRAWING: OPEN FIGURE NIGHT
Tuesday, April 21, 6-8PM
Spend an evening working on your life drawing skills with a live model at the gallery! Whether you are shaking off some rust or new to drawing the figure, you are welcome to come alone or bring a friend and practice!
This uninstructed class is a great opportunity to get loose in drawing during short and long poses provided by the model. Bring a drawing pad, charcoal or pencils, or utilize the gallery supplies. Standing easels and table top easels will be provided upon request.

| Collective Collage: Create a Zine or Postcard on World Collage Day Saturday, May 9, 5:30 - 7:30pm
World Collage Day—initiated by Kolaj Magazine in 2018—is an annual international celebration of collage, held every second Saturday of May.
Collage is an art form that combines different images and materials—typically 2D elements—to create a new and unique work of art. Using simple tools like glue or tape, collage is accessible to everyone.
Islip Arts is excited to participate in this year’s celebration by hosting a Collective Collage Workshop. Students can create a postcard (or two) to send to someone they love, or design a mini zine that tells a story, holds poems, or expresses their creativity.

| PLEINATHON: All Day Plein Air Painting Marathon
Saturday, May 16, 10am-4pm
Location: Fire Island - Sailor's Haven/Sunken Forest
Pleinathon invites artists of all levels and backgrounds to come outside and take in the fresh air and observe nature while painting outdoors.
This year, we will take a ferry over to Fire Island and paint the beautiful scenery of Sailor's Haven & Sunken Forest. Each participant will spend the day painting at their preferred spot and will get to enter their completed painting(s) in the upcoming Plein Air Exhibition at the Gallery.
Fee: $40.00 - Includes one roundtrip ferry ticket from Sayville Ferry (valid only for May 16/Rain date May 17)

| ANNUAL TEENYS
Sunday, June 14, 7pm
"Teenys" is an annual, Tony-style gala intended to recognize outstanding high school theater students within the Town of Islip. The program celebrates, rewards, and supports young performers, promoting their pursuit of professional arts education.
- Mission: To honor local performing arts students, promote high-quality artistic training, and spotlight school theater programs.
- The Gala: An annual celebration featuring red carpet events and performances.
- Merchandise/Support: The council offers tickets, t-shirts, lawn signs, and "shout outs" to celebrate nominees.
- Location: The program is administered by the Islip Arts Council and will take place this year on Sunday, June 14, 7pm at Bay Shore High School.

IAC and the Central Islip Civics Council, along with the Suffolk County Youth Bureau present work from young artists attending the Central Islip School District. The program began in 2017, offering an opportunity for students to express themselves in positive and creative ways.
