For Art Basel Paris, Catinca Tabacaru Gallery presents Have No Doubt of the Omnipotence of a Free People, a research-based exhibition curated by Raphael Guilbert and organized by Catinca Tabacaru.

The project brings to light a largely overlooked chapter of history: Romania’s relationship with anti-colonial liberation movements and, in particular, its involvement in Zimbabwe’s struggle for independence during the 1970s. Developed through archival research in Romania and Zimbabwe, first-hand testimonies from liberation veterans, and commissioned scholarship, the project traces the cultural, political and personal exchanges between the two countries.

Presented in Bucharest in 2025–2026, the exhibition brought together 67 Romanian and Zimbabwean artists, with works spanning from 1960 to the present. It was accompanied by a two-day symposium and the launch of the Second World digital archive, making newly recovered documents publicly available for the first time. The resulting publication, published by DISTANZ, launches at Art Basel Paris.

At Art Basel Paris, a capsule of the project brings together 19 Romanian and Zimbabwean artists across generations. Their works consider liberation and its aftermath, collective memory, inheritance and transmission—how histories move between generations, and how the promises of freedom continue to be questioned, reconstructed and reimagined.

L’hôtel de Maisons, Paris
20 - 25 October 2026

For its first participation in Design Miami.Paris, Galerie Negropontes presents HALGA from 20 to 25 October 2026, a monumental installation by Italian artist Gianluca Pacchioni, as part of the Design at Large programme. The three monumental sculptures in oxidised iron – Halga II, Halga IV and Halga VI – are installed in the garden of the private mansion, creating a landscape of ascending forms. Brought together for the first time in this configuration, the works form a coherent ensemble in which sculpture, architectural heritage and vegetation enter into dialogue.

NOMAD Abu Dhabi
Terminal 1, former Abu Dhabi airport
18 - 22 November 2026

For its first participation in NOMAD Abu Dhabi, Galerie Negropontes presents a selection of art and collectible design pieces brought together within a dreamlike landscape shaped around movement, balance, delicacy and purity. Set in Terminal 1 of the former Abu Dhabi airport, an iconic building designed by Paul Andreu, the presentation occupies a place once dedicated to departures and travel. Between memory and renewal, the gallery creates a journey in which collectible design, sculptures, photographs and light installations engage in dialogue within a unified visual language. The works form a territory populated by mineral reliefs, organic forms, enigmatic flowers and luminous presences, inviting visitors to wander between reality and imagination.

On the occasion of Design Miami 2026, Galerie Negropontes presents Sunrise Garden, an exhibition conceived as a vibrant, sun-drenched garden where botanical forms, animal presences, refined materials and vivid colours respond to one another. Studio tour Saturday October 10, Sunday -11 12:00-6:00 pm 307 Stratford Road, Brooklyn. See the details for The Flatbush Artist below.

In Brooklyn this weekend? This look like a funday.

Saturday, October 10 & Sunday, October 11
Noon–6pm both days
307 Stratford Road, Brooklyn, NY 11218

For two days, artists throughout Ditmas Park’s Victorian Flatbush welcome visitors into their studios and homes. This year, 36 artists will be showing their work at more than 20 locations, all part of a free, self-guided tour.

I’ll be filling my studio with more than 50 original pieces and prints, spanning early drawings to the latest collage series, On The Record. You can see some things in progress, too. As I set it up for you, I can really see the weird, winding paths my art wandered down and how they’re all connected.

Full details and map are available at flatbushartists.org.

The tour is free, and you can visit as many studios as you like. I hope you’ll make mine one of your stops.

Best,

Rick Midler
