New York, (February 8, 2012). Galleries Association of Korea is proud to present for the third consecutive year Korean Art Show 2012, a fair dedicated to promoting outstanding talent from top contemporary art galleries in Korea and abroad.

Following the success from its 2011 edition with over 10,000 visitors, Korean Art Show will return to the highly publicized location in New York’s SoHo district at 82 Mercer with over 16 galleries and a special exhibition titled K-Artist in New York, featuring seven artists that heavily influenced the Korean contemporary art scene in New York in the past decade.

The fair is the only exhibition in the West that puts a spotlight on the current trends from Korea and gives recognition to some of the most important artists working and living in Korea at this time. Ken Kim, Executive Director of Korean Art Show comments, “With the support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, we wish to create a dialogue between the western audience and Korean galleries and to show the world the diversity of work coming from this country.”

Exhibitors selected for the 2012 edition include: Pyo Gallery (Beijing, Los Angeles, Seoul), Keumsan Gallery (Heyri, Seoul, Tokyo), Wellside Gallery (Seoul), Galerie Bhak (Seoul), Art Valley (Heyri),Chung Jark Gallery (Seoul), Kips Gallery (New York) and many more.  

Artists presented in the main exhibition hall include: SUH, Yong Sun (Keumsan Gallery), well known for his work expressing humanity and historical subjects and was elected Korea's Artist of the Year for 2009; painter LEE, Kang So (Pyo Gallery) who gained his fame through his paintings of “ducks” and recently had a solo exhibition at Daegu Art Museum; PARK, Dae-Cho, whose portraits of children were featured in Innocence Lost at Chelsea Art Museum; PARK Seo-Bo (Wellside Gallery), world-renowned painter and leader of Korean Modernism; and LEE, Doo-Shik (Chung Jark Gallery), master of abstract expressionism and renowned Korean artist. 

Admission is free on public days from March 8 -11 with a special preview open to VIP guests and Press on March 7th from 3-6pm followed by Vernissage from 6-10pm. Korean Art Show is conveniently located in SoHo, easily accessible by public transportation or taxis.
