PAINT FROM WITHIN: Hilma af Klint Workshop


Wednesday, March 25, 12:00pm - 1:15pm (EDT)


How do artists paint their inner visions and spirituality? This workshop celebrates Swedish artist Hilma af Klint, now widely recognized as the first abstract painter in the West. Following a presentation, participants will do a short silent meditation, in preparation for painting or drawing the world within. Have drawing or paint supplies on hand.

Celebrate the art of one of Mexico’s most famous artists -- Frida Kahlo - beloved worldwide. Discover how she told the dramatic story of her life in amazing paintings. Then create your own picture story that tells a memory in your life in an imaginative way.

DRAWING SUPPLIES: pencil or colored pencils, eraser, sharpener, white paper.

MAGNETIC FIELDS: Mildred Thompson Workshop

How do artists paint forces not visible to the naked eye? This workshop 

celebrates the work of abstract painter Mildred Thompson who conveyed energy 

and magnetic fields in her vibrant abstract paintings. Following the presentation, 

make an action painting that captures energy in art. Have paint or drawing supplies on hand and a surface that is at least 18 x 24 inches.
