A celebration of  Bob Marley’s 72nd birthday will be held at Hotel North Woods, 2520 Main Street, Lake Placid, Wednesday, Feb 8, 2017.

Dubbed a ONELOVE UNITY event, the evening will kick off at 6:00 p.m. at the Cabin Grill in the hotel’s lobby with a Jamaican dinner and a meet and greet/CD release party featuring reggae icon Hylton Beckford, whose signature song “Johnny Too Bad” is featured in Rolling Stone’s 1973 Rock Movie of the Year “The Harder They Come.” Mr. Beckford, with his musical director Joe “Small Axe” Sinclair, will perform and sign copies of his new CD.   Beckford's own Jamaican gourmet recipes shared with the North Woods staff comprise the special dinner menu offered for the night.

Director Martha Swan will be the recipient of Fine Art Magazine’s 2017 “Hero of Creativity” award for her efforts. Additional recipients of this coveted award are musicologist and photographer Laura Carbone and Lake Placid’s own Rolf Schulte.
Reservations for dinner are being accepted by calling the Hotel at 518-523-1818. Dinner is $25.
