Sale on 2 November to Feature Important 20th and 21st Century Design, Including Iconic Works by François-Xavier Lalanne and Claude Lalanne, Exceptional Design by Gio Ponti and Paolo De Poli, as well as a Selection of Studio Ceramics by Hans Coper and Lucie Rie

 

 

 Phillips is pleased to announce highlights from the upcoming Design auction in London. Taking place on 2 November, the sale will feature important works spanning the 20th and 21st Centuries, including, among others, designs by François-Xavier Lalanne, Claude Lalanne, Marcel Coard, Gio Ponti and Paolo de Poli, Gabriella Crespi, Joris Laarman, and Finn Juhl, and studio ceramics including pieces by Hans Coper and Lucie Rie. Comprising 125 lots, the auction catalogue will go online from 18 October and on view to the public from 27 October at Phillips London galleries on Berkeley Square until the auction on 2 November at 2pm.

In our Parisian gallery we are pleased to present the work of Chilean artist Javier Toro Blum through his personal exhibition Azul Bleu.

In this immersive experience, Javier Toro Blum is interested in the subjective and the interaction between the observer, the work and the architecture of the place. The title, Azul Bleu, names a color in its two languages, the same physical experience that is linguistically modified by the cultural and historical environment of each.
 

Dans notre galerie parisienne, nous avons le plaisir de présenter le travail de l'artiste chilien Javier Toro Blum à travers son exposition personnelle Azul Bleu.

Dans cette expérience immersive, l’artiste Javier Toro Blum s’intéresse au subjectif et à l’interaction entre l’observateur, l’oeuvre et l’architecture du lieu. For our last Venetian chapter, we present the exhibition The Colors of Dreams, carried by the works of Hassan Hajjaj, Thandiwe Muriu and Derrick Ofosu Boateng. North, West and East Africa immortalize their colors, a vision of the country where they were born and the culture that guides them.

Our Venetian gallery will close its doors after the end of the present exhibition, and until the next Biennale in 2024.

Pour notre dernier chapitre vénitien, nous présentons l’exposition The Colors of Dreams portée par les œuvres de Hassan Hajjaj, Thandiwe Muriu et Derrick Ofosu Boateng. L'Afrique du Nord, de l’Ouest et de l’Est immortalisent leurs couleurs, une vision du pays qui les a vu naître et de la culture qui les guide.

Notre galerie vénitienne fermera ses portes après la fin de la présente exposition, et  ce jusqu'à la prochaine Biennale en 2024.

Juror Liz Fusco is an award winning artist who lives on Long Island. She earned her BFA and MA at Long Island University. Because of her love of plants, flowers and natural subjects, she continued on to earn her certificate of Botanical Illustration at the New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx, New York. Liz paints in watercolor and oil, with flowers, landscapes and still life being her favorite subjects. She has exhibited her work nationally, receiving the Roth Award for Botanical Distinction for her painting of “Tiger Lilies” at Filoli Gardens, in San Francisco in 2017.
