The Glass House Holiday Update!

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your generous support of The Glass House over the past few seasons. In the last year, we continued to engage a local and global audience through exciting online programs and exhibitions. This fall, Robert Stadler: Playdate activated multiple locations including the Glass House, Sculpture Gallery, Da Monsta, and the landscape. The scope of David Hartt’s A Colored Garden expanded to include a series of still-life paintings by Charles Ethan Porter, a film by Hartt, and an on-site performance with MacArthur Award-winning cellist Tomeka Reid.

Glass House programs and events are a gathering place for creative and influential minds offering leaders in their fields the chance to discuss current and pressing issues such as sustainability, preservation, and social justice through the lens of art and design. After several years absence, we returned to an in-person format for our signature fundraiser, the Summer Party. The gala debuted a groundbreaking edition by Mickalene Thomas, and our annual benefit auction featured over 100 works by artists from around the world.

Your support this year enabled us to maintain the Studio and Da Monsta, and to undertake critical landscape conservation of our 49-acre site. Preservation is key to our mission. In 2023, we are excited to share that we will kick off Phase 1 of the Brick House restoration. We are still raising funds to complete Phase II and III of the project. But we are closer than ever! This will be our most significant preservation project to date.

With your support, we have been able to accomplish a lot, but there is much more to do, including conservation of our permanent collection. Please help us continue our crucial work by making a fully tax-deductible gift or join us as a Member today!

With gratitude and warm regards,

Gregory Sages,

Executive Director

Last spring, NCGR-NYC offered three views of Venus. Now, to keep things balanced, we are offering three views of Mars! Mars certainly symbolizes war in all its forms. But He represents so much more in so many various areas of our lives…in work, in finance and in getting what we want in life….and in love! He can be destructive and creative. He is at the end of things and at the beginning of things. And as Venus can have a dark side, so to Mars can have a bright side. And how appropriate a topic for our first hybrid event! Join us and these three expert astrologers for their various view of Mars:
Margaret Gray, Grace K. Morris, Adam Gainsburg
