This annual festival celebrates indigenous contributions to environmental sustainability, knowledge and activism. Tribally-owned food cooperatives discuss sustainability and local farmers offer produce, meat and traditional American Indian foods in an outdoor farmers’ market, while local and Native chefs compete in an Iron Chef-style cook-off. Speakers and presenters include the Environmental Protection Agency’s Tribal EcoAmbassadors from the Tohono O’odham Nation and Navajo Nation, speaking on grassroots efforts they are making to reduce their carbon footprint and provide housing for their local community.  Attend a sculpting workshop led by Lisan Tiger Blair (Mvskoke Creek) in the imagiNATIONS Activity Center, join Victoria Vazquez (Cherokee Nation) in a pottery demonstration, see amazing beadwork by Peggy Fontenot (Potawatomi) and enjoy an outdoor cooking demonstration by Patricia Alexander (Pawnee/Creek) or a cheese-making demonstration by Nancy Coonridge. Saturday, July 13th 2013, Fine Art Magazine joined the 2013 Midsummer Party—the first to be held at the new Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill. We saw some of the most noted faces in the art world; enjoyed a spectacular, not-to-be-missed Hamptons event in a truly remarkable setting. The dinner party broke, as the gala ended and the after dancing began. Festive attire adorned by all, the height of summer fashion was seen coming and going. This is as promised an event not to be missed. Please enjoy our pics as much as we enjoyed seeing the festivities.

The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) 5th Annual SummerDocs series, which presents East End audiences the best in documentary filmmaking, continues with the final two films in this year’s program.


On August 12th, ELAINE STRITCH: SHOOT ME, and on August 30th, HIFF rounds out the SummerDocs series with THE SHORT GAME.


“From 7 year old golf prodigies, to an 87 year old Broadway legend, the final 2 films in this year’s SummerDocs series are touching, fun, and provide a real look at the challenge of consistency in doing what one loves at the highest level, day in and day out at any age,” states  HIFF Artistic Director David Nugent.

ELAINE STRITCH: SHOOT ME is the story of Broadway legend Elaine Stritch, 87, who takes the spotlight once again in acclaimed documentary producer Chiemi Karasawa’s directorial debut.  Bold and poignant, the film follows the uncompromising Tony and Emmy-award winner dominating the stage, tormenting Alec Baldwin on “30 Rock,” sharing her personal takes on her struggles, and reflecting on her life.  Featuring friends Nathan Lane, George C. Wolfe, Hal Prince, Cherry Jones, Tina Fey, James Gandolfini and John Turturro, ELAINE STRITCH: SHOOT ME reaches beyond the icon’s brassy exterior to reveal a multi-dimensional portrait of a complex woman and artist. IFC Films will release the movie in early 2014


THE SHORT GAME is a film about the little guys: eight talented boys and girls, ages seven and eight, who descend on one of golf’s meccas, Pinehurst, NC, to compete in the World Championship of Junior Golf. 1500 young golfers from 54 countries aspire to be the sport’s next phenom, but as Josh Greenbaum, with his feature film debut, turns his lens these eight – which includes Anna Kournikova’s younger brother Allan and Amari “Tigress” Avery who shares a birthday, hometown, and ethnic background as one Tiger Woods – their stories intertwine to form a fascinating and often funny portrait of a group of very young athletes and their families as they navigate the narrowly-focused, peculiar, and highly competitive subculture of junior golf.


"David has a good eye for documentaries that lead to good discussion programs after." said Hamptons International Film Festival Advisor Board Member Alec Baldwin.  "I think SummerDocs has been a great success."


“We have been thrilled by the enthusiastic response to our SummerDocs series and are happy to be able to continue to bring new and exciting documentaries to the Hamptons every summer.” said Hamptons International Film Festival Executive Director Anne Chaisson.

Tickets for the screenings are available for purchase at www.guildhall.org or at the Guild Hall Box Office.

The 21st Annual Hamptons International Film Festival will be held over Columbus Day Weekend, October 10th – 14th 2013.

A limited number of Founders Passes are currently on sale until Labor Day.
