ART SOUTHAMPTON 2015 DRAWS CRITICAL ACCLAIM FROM TOP INTERNATIONAL COLLECTORS, ART ADVISORS & CURATORS
Record attendance and sales, stunning new location at Nova's Ark Project, mark fourth and largest-yet edition of East End's premier contemporary art fair
Southampton, NY (July 17, 2015) - Wrapping up its fourth and largest edition yet, Art Southampton, the leading international contemporary and modern art fair for acquiring investment-quality 20th and 21st century works of art, presented by Art-Miami, drew a record 21,000 collectors, art enthusiasts, curators and art lovers to the world-renowned pastoral grounds of Nova's Ark Project.

Attendees resoundingly noted the distinguished array of contemporary artworks and installations, paintings, photography, prints, drawings, design, video art, and indoor and outdoor sculptures showcased by more than 80 international galleries at the fair.

Sales began almost immediately after the fair opened its doors to the lavish and exclusive two-tiered VIP Private Preview, which benefited the Parrish Art Museum and Southampton Hospital and set the tone for both the evening and the fair's five-day duration.

"We were so pleased to work in concert with Art Southampton this year, with a great exchange of ideas and resources that makes everyone¹s experience richer." said Terrie Sultan, Director of the Parrish Art Museum.
Upon arriving, guests were treated to the eye-catching large-scale contemporary art sculpture fields of the Nova's Ark Project - the backdrop of this year's new, and based on attendees' accolades, extraordinarily beautiful fair location.. From there, guests walked through the equally stunning sculpture garden designed by LaGuardia Design and supported by Summerhill Landscapes, featuring works by Paul Oberst (Banded Poles/Long Island Four), David Hayes (Totem, Group),Boaz Vaadia(Baraq with Cat)Sam Tufnell (Power Gnomes)Heiner Meyer (Garden Kelly), Hamilton Aguiar (It's a Girl!) Tuki Moses (Off) and others, with Cracking Art Group's florescent pink, larger-than-life Giant Rabbit drawing hundreds of "selfies."

Henry and Henrietta brought a dozen eggs
from the tree bearing strange fruits
Now why does this tree have eggs not
blossoms
Henrietta bounced like a floppy
flower in heat
Down the road by the flat green wet shape
They cracked one by one each egg into a
Sun spot hotter than July
We are so famished
The milky egg spun much potential
Henrietta bounced and bounced
The year two women gave birth to a small
man

Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/123054788029928/

KRISTINE SCHOMAKER is a new media and performance artist, painter and art historian living and working at the Brewery artist complex in Los Angeles California. She received her BA in Art History and her MA in Studio Art from California State University at Northridge. Kristine works with various interdisciplinary art forms including online virtual worlds to explore notions of online identity and the hybridization of digital media with the physical world.

Whether physical or virtual, the object-based work Kristine creates combines elements of color-based gestural abstraction, animation, pattern and design, neo-Baroque and Populence. Using installation, text, photography, mixed media, video and performance for her ongoing conceptual project My Life as an Avatar, she visualizes a narrative/dialogue with her virtual persona, Gracie Kendal.

In early 2012, Kristine turned an art gallery into a re-creation of Gertrude Stein’s salon and held a mixed reality performance/dinner party at the opening. Over the summer she also performed “The Bald and the Beautiful” in which she had her head shaved as a statement to challenge society’s standards of beauty.

“A comfortable Skin,” Kristine’s latest work is an ongoing multimedia project that documents how she uses virtual and physical avatars to bring more attention to the obsession society has with physical appearance.

She has an active life in the arts, previously teaching art history at Antelope Valley College and Pasadena City College, forming an artist collective in Los Angeles and organizing and curating numerous art exhibitions. A member of the Los Angeles Art Association, Southern California Women's Caucus for Art, College Art Association and Siggraph, Kristine believes in supporting artists by building communities of like-minded people who have plans, can share resources and bring ideas to fruition. Kristine is currently the social media coordinator of the Los Angeles Art Association and PR rep, social media and advertising manager of the Brewery Artwalk Association.
