Call for Artists: BorderBody | Spain/Poland Video Art / Photography / Painting / Performing art
Deadline: October 20, 2013
International ArtExpo is selecting all photo works, video/short films, paintings and performing art works to include in the next 2013 exhibitions:
BorderBody – International Art Festival Photography, Video Art, Painting and Performing Art held in Almeria (Spain), at MECA Mediterráneo Centro Artístico, during the 14th and 28th of November, 2013 (video screening only), and in Wrocław (Poland) at Gallery MD_S (MD_S – miejsce dla sztuki), from the 10th to the 30th of November 2013.
BorderBody” is conceived as a diffused and nomadic exhibition in different places of the world. The festival is composed by two sections: “Mixing Cities”, which deals with modern urban changes and their influence on citizens, and “Mixing Identities” focused on the hybridization of social identities in contemporary time. Artworks’ selection is  based on the main concept of fluidity, motion, changing networks and cities transformations. In contemporary society boundaries are getting more and more fleeting, and also the identity; what makes every person or place a recognizable entity, turns out fluid, multiple, making the cultural, religious, ethnic borders changeable too. This change, this mutation has allowed to cross the inside of the identities creating new possible crossings, new blends. There is no more limit between an identity and the other one but it is possible to walk, to cross a passage and to find oneself halfway through it, in a non-place, in a non-identity. People, backgrounds, societies, progress and all their inputs creates hybrid identities, modifying each other and being mixed in prospect to shape a better world.
The event is open to photography, video art, painting and performing art. Exhibition at MECA (Spain) is open to video art only.
The deadline for applications is October 20, 2013
To take part in the selection, send your works submissions with a CV/biography, videography and some still images (only for video artists), some samples of works via email to lucacurci@lucacurci.com or via mail to:
International ArtExpo Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, 33
70122 Bari, Italy

Opening of a solo show by Krista Mölder at Temnikova & Kasela gallery

Opening of a solo show by Krista Mölder at Temnikova & Kasela gallery
Temnikova & Kasela gallery is pleased to invite you to an opening of an exhibition by Krista Mölder.
What is a (gallery)space around private and public or the distance between them? What is personal at all? Krista has chosen Luce Irigaray´s quote to charecterize her exhibition: „Thus a way of living together can be founded, in which this togetherness, without being simply visible as such, allows for a place in which we can continue to dwell. This place remains always open – which does not mean simply empty – for a possible welcoming of the other and of that which is realized together“.
Opening: Tuesday, October 22nd at 6pm, Rüütli 4, Tallinn.
The opening is part of Tallinn Tuesdays, evening of extended exhibition viewing and special programs.
The exhibition will be open from Wednesday to Saturday 2–7pm., or by appointment, until December 14th.

Gallery Night Invitation
H Benitez Fine Art Gallery II
Bird Road Art District | Saturday, October 19th 2013

"El Beso" |  Orginal on Canvas | Artist Humberto Benitez | Call for Pricing

This Saturday, October 19th, H. Benitez Fine Art Gallery will be presenting a one of a kind opportunity:

"El Beso"

One of the signature paintings of the "Sueños de un Guajiro" series, "El Beso" received immediate attention from the art world, being published in an article in Art Business News where Humberto Benitez made the front cover ("Cuban Art is Hot", 2005). A painting in which the red clay soil of Cuba rises with the music like a flame, sugar cane fields of dreams surround lovers, and lovers surround themselves with music and adoration - words lack the justice to describe this whirlwind of passion.

"El Beso" is currently available for acquisition.

On October 19th at 6.30 pm, ‘Indian Suggestions’, an exhibition dedicated to works by Carlos Cartama, Dina Goldstein and Michael Rotondi opens at Sakshi Gallery in Mumbai.

International Art Prize Arte Laguna

INDIAN SUGGESTIONS
Sakshi Gallery opens the Arte Laguna Prize winners’ exhibition in India

On October 19th at 6.30 pm, ‘Indian Suggestions’, an exhibition dedicated to works by Carlos Cartama, Dina Goldstein and Michael Rotondi opens at Sakshi Gallery in Mumbai.
The exhibition is the artistic output of residencies awarded during the 6th and 7th editions of the Arte Laguna Prize, completed by Michael Rotondi and Dina Goldstein in September 2012 and at present ongoing for Carlos Cartama.
The stay in Mumbai is part of the Residency Program created in 2010 by Arte Laguna Prize, which offers artists a new experience in professional growth and production, in an environment that is completely different from the traditional artist studio.
The destination of Mumbai has been selected thanks to the collaboration with Technymon, an Italian company working in the field of mechanics which has been able to make an entry into the international arena by starting operations in Brazil, the Unites States and India.
The residency offers artists a chance to spend one month in Mumbai, engaging with Indian culture and conceiving new creations inspired by the city and its rich local culture. In addition to transportation expenses, accommodation and grants, artists get to exhibit their works at one of the most prominent galleries in the city, Sakshi Gallery, the third partner of the initiative.
The artists on view:
CARLOS CARTAMA (Madrid, Spain – 1976) lives and works between Madrid and Basel. Caratama’s multidisciplinary work moves between architecture, sculpture, drawing, stage design, and writing. Systematic and subconsciously interested in the suburbs, his work chronicles the transformation of suburban landscape transformation and the dismantling of industrial activity. He is above all impressed by ruins in a way similar to the previous generation’s affinity with the extraordinary beauty of the destruction.
DINA GOLDSTEIN (Tel Aviv, Israel – 1969) lives and works in Vancouver, Canada. Goldstein is a conceptual photographer with a background in editorial photography. For her, photography is intended not to produce an aesthetic that echoes current beauty standards, but to evoke and wrest feelings of shame, anger, shock and empathy from the observer so as to inspire insight into the human condition. Her most recent conceptual series, In the Dollhouse, has, as Fallen Princesses did, sparked an international response. She has taken on one of the most powerful symbols of Western culture: Barbie, the idealized woman.
MICHAEL ROTONDI (Bari, Italy – 1977) lives and works in Milan, Italy. Rotondi works on the distortion and manipulation of the descriptive and narrative character of drawing, investigating the relationship between contemporary music, personal memory and folk tradition. After the artist's return to Italy from India, his research has intensified, and sounds, smells, colours and psychedelia have found an entry into his psyche and turned into memory.
