Happy Earth Day Wherever You Are From the Southampton Arts Center!!!! Link to the programmes offered below.

Today, Wednesday, April 22, 2020 marks 50 years of Earth Day. The first Earth Day in 1970 sparked the passage in the U.S. of the Clean Air, Clean Water and Endangered Species Acts, and the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency.

The urgency has never been greater. Our world needs a united response for bold action. Will you join this global movement as we build toward the next half century of action for our planet?

THE PLAN:

Today, April 22, join the Earth Day Network for 24 Hours of Action on EarthDay.org as they issue a new call to action every hour for 24 hours. Through 24 Hours of Action, Earth Day 2020 will drive actions big and small, give diverse voices a platform and demand bold action for people and the planet.

From April 22nd to April 24th Earth Day Network will fill the digital landscape with global conversations, calls to action, performances, video teach-ins and more. Tune into Earth Day Live as millions of people around the world go online for a three-day mobilization to stop the climate emergency.

While Earth Day may be going digital, the goal remains the same: to mobilize the world to take the most meaningful actions possible to change the world. No matter who or where you are, you can make a difference.

Visit our YouTube channel for important environmental tips from members of SAC's Eco Community Group, including Drawdown East End, Citizen's Climate Lobby, Cindy Pease Roe of UpSculptand Perfect Earth Project, and more.

If so much dire news is overwhelming, why not sit outside and make some promises to a favorite place? It is easy, it is free, it is highly effective.  Make a real commitment, make a real difference, feel great doing it, feel great about it.  Think of it like getting married, no cheating.  Why would you?

Toronto Biennial of Art Postponed til Sept.

To our friends, colleagues, and supporters,

It is hard to believe that we are in week 5 of our Covid-19 enhanced response; it feels like a lifetime ago that we were all just trying to keep up with our busy daily lives. I hope you are all staying strong and healthy during this challenging time.

Like many of you, the Toronto Biennial of Art team has been working remotely, but still together, since March 16. While Covid-19 has required us to postpone planned programming for the ensuing few months, we have not lost sight of the launch of our second biennial on September 25, 2021. We continue to work alongside our partners and artists to envision a project and a future beyond this terrible crisis. We are also finalizing the Evaluation Report for the inaugural 2019 Biennial, which we will share with you in the coming weeks.

In response to this time of strict distancing to keep all of us safe, we are planning exciting ways that the Biennial team, and the inspiring artists already telling today’s stories, can continue engaging with you as we build towards 2021. In the meantime, we invite you to visit our website to (re)discover our
Tools for Learning activities and podcast episodes, and follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook for more ways to connect with art at home.

In engaging with artists, partners, and supporters, we have understood that TBA 2021—now 17 months away—offers a beacon of hope. Our team takes this responsibility seriously, as we carefully and critically consider how our biennial will bring artists, people, and communities together again. Arts and culture will play an important role in our collective recovery, and I am proud of the solidarity and resilience that this community has shown to date. We are definitely now, more than ever, stronger together.

Stay well and safe,
Patrizia Libralato
Founder & Executive Director

Southampton Arts Center Creative Challange ! Culinary Arts Project!

SAC'S Creativity Challenge Week 2: Culinary Arts
We are all cooking more these days, and that's a great thing. So this week's challenge is to create something of your own - something totally unique - inspired by whatever you have in the fridge, pantry, and garden. And once complete, step two is "The Art of Plating". Make your dish photo-ready by using garnishes like fresh flowers, herbs, spices, sauces - anything edible to beautify your culinary creation. Most importantly, have fun, think outside the box, and use what you have. When complete, take a photo and email it to us and feel free to include the recipe if you think it's a flavor success.
GO!
  1. Scour your fridge, pantry, garden for ingredients (it's important that you use what you have - please do not go to the store for this challenge).
  2. Put on your thinking toque (chef's cap).
  3. Cook or bake your culinary creation (kids get the help of your parents when using the oven, please!).
  4. Find interesting and beautiful edible items to garnish your dish to make it photo ready (Tip: Check out images from Le Bernadin, Eleven Madison Park, The Modern, French Laundry, Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Noma and other five-star restaurants for inspiration).
  5. When complete, take a photo of your finished product.
  6. Eat! (We don’t want anyone to be wasteful so please make sure it’s edible).
  7. Email the photo to info@southamptoncenter.org with "Culinary Arts Challenge" in the subject line, include your name, where you are from, age (if under 18), your Instagram handle if you have one, and let us know if it was delicious. If you think the recipe is worth sharing, you are encouraged to include that as well so others can try out your masterpiece.
Entries will be featured on our social media platforms, on our website, and in a final video on our YouTube Channel.

GET THOSE COOKIN' CREATIONS GOING...and have fun!
