UPCOMING ART FAIR

April 15 – 17, 2016
April 14 Preview Gala

Fashion Industry Gallery
1807 Ross Avenue, Dallas, Texas

Booth F12
DallasArtFair.com

Please contact the gallery for complimentary passes

The booth presentation will feature a selection of the gallery’s contemporary artists with a balance of sculptural objects and paintings, some figuration, but mostly abstraction. The emphasis is on the materiality and physicality of the artwork that begs engagement by the viewer either because of its tactile qualities, unusual use of supports, transformation of materials or a digital medium.

Featuring: Michele Bubacco, Chris Collins, Peter Demos, Anne Farrell, Erik Gellert, Christian Haub, Catherine Howe, Paul Huxley, Phillis Ideal, Matt King, Matthew Kluber, Matthew Penkala, Gabriel J. Shuldiner and Jack R. Slentz.

In the viewing room, we will present more historical work that focuses on Op Art, visual perception and Washington Color painters. Most of the pieces will be from the 1960s and some from the 70s and 80s, featuring iconic figures who were major contributors to the art movements and groups noted above.

Featuring: Richard Anuszkiewicz, Leon Berkowitz, Francis Celentano, Dan Christensen, Howard Daum, Thomas Downing, Francis Hewitt, Ed Mieczkowski, Rakuko Naito, Julian Stanczak and Tadasky.

Studio Vendome, Annina Roescheisen, April 7-May 5th

Studio Vendome, 330 Spring Street, New York, NY

Studio Vendome, 330 Spring Street, New York, NY

Spanning a five-year period of Roescheisen’s career, this monumental exhibition will feature video, photography, and sculpture:

A Love Story (2015), comprised of one film, one sculpture, and an edition of nine photographs, Roescheisen exposes the intricacies of our emotions. She refines and enriches her palate, while maintaining her signature expression. This piece transcribes the universal quest to find harmony and discovers that love must be the key.

I Tribe You (2014) touches upon questions of identity and the perception of boundaries between the self and the other.  Conveyed in three films and seven photographs, this piece explores the archaic emotions inherent in each of us.

La Pietà (2013) is composed of five separate films inspired by the artist’s personal journey from childhood to adulthood.  Referencing Christian painting of the 14th and 15th centuries, each video flows into the next revealing a further dimension of the artist’s message.

Please RSVP at athina@annarosathomae.com if you would like to attend.

Sundaram Tagore presents the first New York solo exhibition of work by Delhi-based Scottish artist Olivia Fraser. April 7-30, 2016

Sundaram Tagore presents the first New York solo exhibition of work by Delhi-based Scottish artist Olivia Fraser.

Inspired by the techniques and vocabulary of traditional Indian miniatures, Fraser uses mineral and plant pigments on hand-made paper cross-fertilizing and deconstructing this Eastern art tradition with forms and ideas from contemporary Western art. The thirty paintings Fraser is presenting in The Sacred Garden are rooted in her fascination with and practice of yoga and the ways in which yogic meditation involves visualizations of the garden, particularly the sahasrara or thousand-petaled lotus, which serves as a visual aid in reaching enlightenment.

Olivia Fraser’s work is included in public and private collections in Australia, France, India, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, the United Kingdom and in the Museum of Sacred Art, Septon, Belgium. Her work has been shown in solo exhibitions in India, China and the United Kingdom. Her work was most recently included in Forms of Devotion: The Spiritual in Indian Art at Lalit Kala Galleries, Rabindra Bhavan, in New Delhi, and in Frontiers Reimagined, an exhibition of global art at the 56th Venice Biennale.

The artist was born in London, raised in the Highlands of Scotland and has lived and worked in India since 1989.

Flourishing in the desert for over three decades, Lisa Sette Gallery represents the works of a diverse and expansive range of artists whose investigations in some way touch on the realities of the urban Sonoran desert. The experience of living at a cultural and geographical intersection is reflected in works from around the globe that are both conceptually fertile and thoughtfully crafted. This summer’s solo exhibit of the electrifying, philosophically-charged paintings of Claudio Dicochea: Forbidden Futures exemplifies the gallery’s intrepid commitment to challenging, compelling, and culturally pertinent artwork.
