Art Lovers: The Armory Show News of the Month
A Note from:Peter Simon Photograph: I have launched a KICKSTARTER campaign
A Note from:Peter Simon Photograph
Peter Siomon: I have been working on a comprehensive DVD of my life's work as a professional photographer. It's called
"Through the Lens - Celebrating Fifty Years of Personalized Photojournalism." The cost is exceeding what I had originally anticipated and so I have launched a KICKSTARTER campaign to help fund this project. I'm trying to raise $12,500 to cover the expenses of production, manufacturing the DVD, and paying for the marketing and promotion of this major effort.
The DVD will be 3 hours of revealing the intimate stories behind the photographs, as well as various tips for enabling you to capture your images in a more satisfying way. There are twelve chapters to explore at your own pace, including College Daze, Decent Exposures, Playing with the Bands, Following the Path, So Many Roads and On The Vineyard.
I hope you will check out the rewards and feel comfortable pledging what you can. For example, a $25 pledge will give you a personally signed DVD - by pre-buying you will be saving the sales tax and domestic shipping charge. The photographs are also at a reduced price -- so, if you ever wanted to own an original Peter Simon Photograph, now is the time to pledge!
Click on http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2000454548/through-the-lens-celebrating-50-years-of-photograp?ref=home_location and check it out. Any amount will be greatly appreciated.
With your help, you can make my dream come true!
Thank you for all your support through the years.

“BODY OF WORK IX” is Presented at Ashawagh Hall on June 29 & 30
“Body of Work IX” showcases the artistic activity of long time members of this fluid group of figurative artists. During the time we have shown together, we have bonded as a group creatively, as individuals working, showing and growing.
“Body of Work IX” presents artwork by Rosalind Brenner, Linda Capello, Michael Cardacino, Ellen Dooley, Anthony Lombardo, Phil Marco, Michael McDowell, Douglas Reina, Frank Sofo and Margaret Weissbach.
The exhibition opens at
and continues through Sunday, June 30. An Artist Reception will be held on June 29 from 5 to 8 p.m. Ashawagh Hall is located at 780 Springs Fireplace Rd, Springs, NY 11937.
Not every artist exhibits in every show. For “Body of Work IX,” the group is introducing a new artist who has not exhibited previously with the Body of Work artist collective.
While all the work in the exhibition is figurative, each artist presents a unique interpretation.
Doug Reina’s recent work involves painting the figure while exploring ideas about how to manipulate the treatment of the paint on the canvas surface.
“This treatment allows me to see more than an abstract painting and more than a figurative painting,” states Reina in his Artist Statement. “Instead, I see both, which I find interesting.”
