Art Night Thursday | Extended gallery hours till 9:30pm | Exhibition continues till 23rd April, 2016   The team at TARQ is pleased to present ‘Feedback Loop’ curated by Kanchi Mehta, with works on display by Starlyn D'Souza, Madhavi Gore, P.S Jalaja, Nirmal Kulkarni, Violeta Lisboa, Romain Loustau, Lavanya Mani and Atish Saha. Each of the eight artists’ multi-disciplinary practices bring a unique perspective to the central premise of the exhibition Feedback Loop. According to curator Kanchi Mehta, a 'feedback loop' refers to a channel or a pathway formed by an ‘effect’, returning to its ‘cause’, and generating either more or less of the same effect. Featuring works that include photography, painting, sculpture and performance, 'Feedback Loop' constructs various circuits of cause and effect, tracking the cyclical nature of a variety of forms. #fineartmagazine

Leading quartz manufacturer Caesarstone, in collaboration with British designer Tom Dixon, unveil new images from 'The RESTAURANT by Caesarstone & Tom Dixon, a multi-sensory creation consisting of four conceptual kitchens and dining halls inspired by the elements – Earth, Fire, Water and Air. Created using Caesarstone surfaces and designed by Tom Dixon, these are taking over the Milan Children’s Museum (MUBA) in the historical Rotonda della Besana during the 2016 design festival in Milan.

Set within the ideal backdrop of a 17^th century Cloister and a deconsecrated church, the installation provides a unique interpretation of how food and surfaces can interact in an exercise of distinctive tastes, smells and visuals within each kitchen. Reflecting the individual element through colour and texture, Caesarstone's surfaces become the ultimate plateau for a creative dining experience that engages all the senses.

For this installation, a food concept curated by Italian food design studio Arabeschi explores the power of nature’s elements in a menu that combines traditional ingredients with modern techniques.  Cooking in the kitchens, the chefs are creating a multi-sensory dining experience where food is prepared and served on Tom-Dixon designed Caesarstone surfaces, combining rare, element-inspired cooking techniques with fresh and unique ingredients.
 

No pre-booking policy. There will be plenty of space to accommodate large groups at any time of the day.
Dining rates:
-       1 dish (you can choose from any kitchen) = 10 Euros
-       4 dishes (the whole experience) = 25 Euros
-       Visitors can pay with cash or card

The Anglet contemporary art international biennial unveils its program

Teaser La littorale #6 - Anglet contemporary art international biennial The sixth Anglet-Bask Coast contemporary art international biennial has been named La Littorale, a name chosen to anchor this cultural event geographically. This time the event’s artistic direction has been entrusted to writer and art historian, Paul Ardenne. With La Littorale #6 the new curator wants “selected artists to question the tensions and contradictions to which shores are now subject. This are in fact places that are sought after for the gentle lifestyle they offer as much as for being physical frontiers, limits, political spaces, bringing together stakeholders often with very different interests.” Anglet adds to these aspects the idea of an “ecological Eden, in grandiose natural surroundings”. The biennial thus restates its character as an open air exhibition, with wide open spaces for expression, where priority goes to themes linked to the complexity of the coastline: A leisure time seaside resort, a frontier contact area, a fragile rapidly evolving ecological space. This year, Art Cologne has been in existence for 50 years. From the start, Galerie Thomas was a presence at the Kölner Kunstmarkt and Art Cologne, which it developed into; indeed, Raimund Thomas was one of the art fair's founders. Thus it is a special pleasure that, this year, the Art Cologne Prize is being awarded to Raimund Thomas.

Plenty of good reasons for a very special art fair presentation: the idea is to celebrate this year’s major anniversary with small artworks. Galerie Thomas wants to provide a comprehensive overview of the artists that it has exhibited and dealt in over a period of 50 years. If it is not to grow out of proportion, of course, this can only be done with small works. The attraction lies not only in their abundance and variety, but mainly in the concentration and precision that the small format demands of artists.

The anniversary booth of Galerie Thomas at Art Cologne 2016 with works, amongst others, by Klee, Balkenhol, Belling, Heckel, Chagall, Barlach, Marc, Bühl, Berrocal, Nolde, Christian, Valdés, Zimmer, Warhol, Antes, Isenrath, Vostell and Salomé.

  

Especially for this occasion, we have created a miniature catalogue, in which we present a selection of the exhibited works.

Feuerman: Hero and Leander will have its opening reception Friday, May 6 at C24 Gallery, 560 West 24 Street, New York, from 6 PM to 8 PM. The exhibition will introduce Feuerman's newest works, Dancers, and a sixteen-foot bronze sculpture called Beyond The Golden Mean.  Two dance performances will be featured at the event. A thirty-foot interactive water video made especially for the exhibition by Michelangelo Bastiani will shower the wall of the gallery. Highlighting the exhibition is Leda and the Swan, returning from the 2015 Venice Biennale. Dressed in a 1920’s bathing suit, the resin sculpture depicts a reinterpretation of the classic Greek tale of Leda. According to the myth, Zeus seduces Leda while disguised as a swan, and Leda later bears Helen of Troy. In Feuerman’s own words, the sculpture “embraces the eroticism associated with much of Greek mythology, while telling the story of deceit and treachery.” Another featured sculpture, DurgaMa, was inspired by the Hindu goddess Durga. The bronze figure sits in complete tranquility on a sacred lotus flower. The sculpture tells the story of birth, rebirth, and survival, a common theme present in much of Feuerman’s work. The flower’s potential to live for over a thousand years, along with Durga’s symbolism, creates a picture of the elegance and beauty of Mother Nature. Feuerman's sculptures have a common thread that touches all of us, masking time and space. The powerful stories they tell of strength, perseverence, and balance, speak to collectors and observers alike. #fineartmagazine
