Meet Our Yoga Teachers at IAM

Katrina Kuan

Katrina considers herself both a student and a teacher of yoga when she graduated under A Jewel in the Lotus School in 2019 (RYT 200). Her class welcomes all levels where one can find their sense of relaxation in a soft meditation in the beginning of class followed by poses that are broken down to fulfill their best alignment. She is passionate about art and yoga and is happy to be working within the vicinity where she can express these two

Counting is Caring: Join the Great Backyard Bird Count
The 23rd Annual Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) begins next week on Valentine’s Day, Friday, February 14, and continues through Monday, February 17. And when the latest science shows that two-thirds of North American birds are threatened by climate change, there is no better time to get involved.

The GBBC is a free, fun, and family-friendly way to support bird conservation. Here’s how it works: spend as little as 15 minutes on one or more days of the count tallying birds in your community, and then submit your lists online. The data collected by volunteers from around the world powers conservation initiatives and helps us better understand how climate change will impact the birds we all love.

All it takes is 15 minutes to make a difference. Keep reading to learn how to participate in this year’s Great Backyard Bird Count.

Interesting viewing: Ancient Treasures form Elam

Elam was an ancient kingdom of Asia, situated north of the Persian Gulf and east of the
Tigris River, and corresponding approximately to the present-day province of Khuzistan in Iran.
The capital of Elam and its most fabled city was Susa, today the city of Shush. This powerful
empire has been overshadowed in history by the rival kingdoms of Babylon and Assyria.
However, the Elamite Empire deserves to be placed in a list of the world’s most important
and influential ancient cultures. Archaeological signatures for the area exist as far back
as the sixth millennium B.C. The empire itself was founded in around 3200 B.C.,
and it lasted – in various guises – almost continuously until the mid first millennium
B.C.; much of its history is also documented using the world’s earliest deciphered
alphabet, which makes it of extraordinary value to historians and archaeologists.

The Barakat Gallery is proud to hold an extensive
collection of Elamite masterworks, many of which
can be viewed below or by clicking HERE
