SYNOPSIS | Congressman Charlie Winship (Treat Williams) is at a crossroads in his life both personally and professionally. After he publicly refuses to stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance he finds himself in a downward spiral. From being badgered by the media to being undermined by conniving lobbyist, Laird Devereaux (George Hamilton), Charlie needs to find a way out of this series of unfortunate events. He embarks on a journey with his Chief of Staff, Jared (Ryan Merriman) to a small remote island of the coast of Maine, where he comes into contact with an offbeat group of constituents who are fighting to protect their island and livelihood.

Through experiencing a different way of life Charlie is re-introduced to the ideals that molded him. Making the choice to go toe to toe with his past may give him a second chance at personal happiness, professional enlightenment, and perhaps, even a lifetime supply of lobster.

GALERIE THOMAS at ART BASEL & ART BASEL UNLIMITED June 16 - 19, 2016

June 16 - 19, 2016

The booth of Galerie Thomas at Art Basel 2016 with works, amongst others, by Chagall, Jawlensky, Arp, Ernst, Haese and Nolde

At Art Basel Unlimited, Galerie Thomas presents a large-scale wall installation with four new paintings by Peter Halley, which is created particularly for this occasion. Titled Weak Force, Peter Halley arranges his large-sized "grid paintings" on a wall of 18 metres which is covered with an ornamental pattern, and creates with this contrast not only an enormous aesthetic impact, but also expresses his artistic questioning of our modern perception and classification systems.

USB Bank, Basel Report 2016

13 June 2016

UBS and Art Basel announce collaboration on The Art Basel and UBS Global Art Market Report by renowned cultural economist Clare McAndrew

UBS’s interactive public “Planet Art Lounge” in Hall 1 at the 2016 edition of Art Basel engages audiences with the firm’s global art projects through custom film content, artist-designed tattoos and a coffee bar with specially commissioned sweetener by artist Sean Raspet.

Zurich / Basel, 13 June 2016 – UBS, global Lead Partner of Art Basel, celebrates the opening of the 2016 edition of the Basel show with the announcement of The Art Basel and UBS Global Art Market Report by Clare McAndrew, which will establish the global standard for art market research and become a new benchmark for the international art trade. The results of the first report will be published in March 2017, to coincide with Art Basel in Hong Kong. The annual report will regularly cover all of the main macro-economic trends and deliver fundamental data on the art market as a whole. Furthermore, it will drill down into specific areas of interest and new business developments for collectors and professionals.

UBS is also pleased to be able to continue its support of Art Basel into the next decade, a testament to both organizations' shared aspiration of creating a global platform for the exchanges that drive the art world forward, and the development and promotion of the visual arts. UBS has been supporting Art Basel in Basel, one of the world's most influential art fairs, since 1994. UBS expanded its partnership to include Art Basel in Miami Beach in 2002 and Art Basel in Hong Kong in 2014.

“Art Basel is a center of gravity for the art world where we can actively bring together our clients, guests and partners to see the world’s premier galleries, artworks and artists," said Jürg Zeltner, President, UBS Wealth Management. “And our joint venture to produce The Art Basel and UBS Global Art Market Report complements our leading position in financial research and analysis across the globe, as well as our in-house Art Market Review and bespoke client offerings through the UBS Art Competence Center."

The UBS Art Collection
In the UBS VIP Lounge in the Collector’s Lounge at Art Basel, Mary Rozell, Global Head of the UBS Art Collection, has curated a display that celebrates a distinguished chapter of the UBS Art Collection’s legacy and presents some of its most significant works of art. Dating from the 1960s to the early 1990s, this group of seminal works – paintings, drawings and works on paper – spans the arc of Abstract Expressionism through Pop Art and beyond, juxtaposing portraiture with formal geometric and gestural abstraction. Artists featured include Richard Artschwager, Chuck Close, John Currin, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Brice Marden, Alex Katz, and Gerhard Richter, and a recent acquisition by Doug Aitken. Some of the works presented in the lounge are part of a UBS promised gift to The Museum of Modern Art, New York.

The UBS Art Collection is the cornerstone of UBS’s commitment to contemporary art and part of its heritage and corporate culture. It comprises 30,000 works of art, including paintings, photographs, drawings, prints, video art and sculptures by emerging talents to some of the most important artists of the last 50 years. The works are on view in more than 720 UBS offices in 54 countries and shared with the public through museum loans and exhibition tours.
