"What matters to me are the lines.
The lines drawn with a brush give shape to something, but they are not lines intended to create a shape.
Above all, there is a free line.
And this free line does not necessarily follow my will.
It is overlaid by the quality of the paper, the thickness or fineness of the brush, the density or lightness of the ink: all of this guides the line and brings it into being.
Again and again, for me, the free line comes first.
Sometimes more rigid lines are also born, caught up in the form, but I want to give them, too, the opportunity to live.
Let the line be alive.
And let the painting be alive, too.
I would like my paintings to carry strength, light, and freedom in their hearts."
