Opening 8 May 2019, Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia presents the first retrospective survey of the American artist Arshile Gorky in Italy, entitled ‘Arshile Gorky: 1904 – 1948’, at Ca’ Pesaro - International Gallery of Modern Art. Bringing together over 80 works, this major exhibition explores the full breadth of Gorky’s oeuvre. From his interrogation of modernist masters in the 1920s, to his late paintings of the 1940s, Gorky’s singular vision was present throughout, defininghim as one of the pivotal figures of 20th century American Art, alongside Willem de Kooning, Jackson Pollock, and Mark Rothko.

On view through 22 September 2019, ‘Arshile Gorky: 1904 – 1948’ is curated by Gabriella Belli, a celebrated art historian and Director of the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, and Edith Devaney, curator at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, where she recently collaborated on the lauded exhibition ‘Abstract Expressionism’.

Opening: September 28, 2012

Liquid Identities, an international video-art festival and photography exhibition, will be held in the city of Venice. The Scoletta di San Giovanni Battista e del SS. Sacramento in Bragora, the venue of the event, will open its doors on Friday, September 28, until Sunday, September 30. Fifty-seven artists, thirty-two video artists and twenty-five photo artists from different countries have been selected to be part of this project.

The selection has been based on the main concept of “Liquid Identities” based on fluidity, motion, changing networks and cities transformations. In contemporary society boundaries are getting more and more fleeting, and also the identity; what makes every person or place a recognizable entity, turns out fluid, multiple, making the cultural, religious, ethnic borders changeable too. This change, this mutation has allowed to cross the inside of the identities creating new possible crossings, new blends. And it’s just this “contemporaneity” that makes our civilization conceived as subjected to a process of continuous evolution and cultural hybridization. There is no more limit between an identity and the other one but it is possible to walk, to cross a passage and to find oneself halfway through it, in a non-place, in a non-identity. This project is about temporary roles in changing rules, thinking about liquid borders in new evolving worlds.

It’s LIQUID Group, in collaboration with International ArtExpo, is proud to present “It’s LIQUID International Contest - First Edition 2012”.

The contest is born with the goal of promoting contemporary art, photography and design through all the divulgating tools that the communication platform It’s LIQUID has used for years (press release, mailing list with more than 60,000 subscribers, international contemporary art and design events realization). Solo artists and designers can participate to the contest as well as groups of artists and designers.

Who can apply?
The contest is open to artists and designers from all over the world without any limit of age and nationality.

Awards- Prize of the value of 15.000,00 euro consisting in one year of interviews, publications and specials about winner artists of all categories on the It’s LIQUID Platform, and one year of email announcements sent to the mailing list dedicated (more than 60.000 subscribers).

- A collective exhibition about winner artists of all categories at the Rearte Gallery, Wien (Austria).

- The realization of a site-specific artwork set in the context of the city of Venice, for winner artists of sculpture and installation, videoart, product design categories. The prize is offered by Contaminante, an interactive project between planners, artists and territory which carries out site specific shows that become in the end integral part of the heritage of the city.

- Prize of the value of 5.000,00 euro consisting in one year of participation to the International Videoart Festivals organized by International ArtExpo Group.

- A special about winner artist of videoart category on one of the most important videoart platforms (videoartworld.com).

- The participation to International Videoart exhibitions organized by the group “The Palestinian Social Cinema Arts Association”, for the winner artist of videoart category.

Until the 11th of November 2011 contemporary visual artists from all over the world can apply to the 6th International ARTE LAGUNA PRIZE, divided into 5 sections: painting, sculpture, photographic art, videoart and performance, and the brand new virtual art, dedicated to artworks entirely created using pc softwares and smartphones apps. Topics and techniques can be chosen freely.

Since 2006 the Arte Laguna Prize is focused on supporting emerging and already well-known artists and, thanks to collaborations with local and international partners, it is able to give them a network of opportunities.

The opportunities for the artists of this edition:

5 money Prizes of 7.000,00 EUR for the winner artists, one for each section

The Prize Arte Laguna has created a network of international galleries to introduce the artists to the market of Contemporary Art. Each gallery will select an artist for creating a solo exhibition

During the years, the winners of the Arte Laguna Prize had exhibitions in Venice, Wien, Prague and more than 20.000 viewers visited their shows.
