Lectures by Bakhyt Kenjeev - Date Correction!

MoRA_Logo_2011

Date Correction: Tuesday , October 2  at 7pm

Lectures by Bakhyt Kenjeev

Cocktail reception

The Museum of Russian Art invites you to attend a gala poetry reading/discussion by the notable Russian poet Bakhyt Kenjeev and an art exhibition at:

The Museum of Russian Art,
80 Grand Street Jersey City, NJ 07302.
The museum is open Thursday - Sunday 2-6 PM and by appointment
from September 20 - October 4

Mr. Kenjeev, one of Russia's leading traditionalist poets, will lead two interactive discussions on Russian poetry, with topics including "Poetry and the Internet" and "Poetry Amateur and Professional."

This poetry evening coincides with the prize exhibition of the Winners of the 2012 International Art Festival, which opened at MoRA earlier this month. The artists whose works are on view include Russian-American painter Nikolai Zalevsky; art photographer Zeno Chen from the Republic of China (Taiwan); and Joan Hus and Benjamin Sack, who shared the Graphics award. These artists will be featured in an article about the competition scheduled for an upcoming issue of Fine Art Magazine. A reception will follow.

Bakhyt Kenjeev is a leading Russian poet and prize-winning author of twelve poetry books published in the USA, Russia, and Kazakhstan. Bakhyt Kenjeev is a frequent participant in major international festivals and currently lives in Montreal, New York, and Moscow.
 Among Russian poets of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, Bakhyt Kenzheev enjoys a reputation as a traditionalist. Predominantly lyrical, his verse touches upon a wide range of modern phenomena. He is renowned for his ability to represent mundane life in an intensely Romantic style, creating a mystical dimension to human existence. Many critics acknowledge that his poetry incorporates the European and Central Asian mythological traditions as well as specifically Russian literary trends. Projecting traditional imagery on the minutiae of contemporary life, Kenzheev's poetry harks back to the Russian rhyming styles most brilliantly represented by figures such as Aleksandr  Pushkin, Aleksandr  Blok, and Osip  Mandel'shtam.
We will honor the winners of our inaugural juried competition.
These outstanding artists represent diverse backgrounds and a wide variety of artistic styles:
 The exhibition will feature:
Zeno Chen (Photography); Nicolas Zalevsky (Painting);
Joan Hus and Benjamin Sack (tied in Graphics).
Each artist will present a solo exhibition featuring the winning works and some additional works representing career highlights.
