Affordable Art Fair México presents its first edition in Latin America!

October 19 – 21, 2012

Expo Reforma

Ave. Morelos 67, Col. Juárez | Cuauhtémoc, 06700 | México D.F.

Affordable Art Fair, the leading showcase internationally for contemporary art, arrives for the first time to Mexico and Latin America. It will be held from October 19th to the 21st at Expo Reforma, located in the heart of Mexico City near the famous Reforma Avenue.

For three days, Mexico City´s residents aka Chilangos, will enjoy contemporary art from 40 galleries, mostly national but also a strong presence of international galleries, through paintings, graphics, sculptures, photographs and drawings. The relaxed format that has characterized AAF since its first edition in London over 10 years ago, invites attendees to browse freely not only the details of each work, but also its prices, which will be on display throughout the show.

Among the galleries that will take part on this first edition are Aldama Fine Art, Ethra, Terreno Baldío Arte, Garash, Altiplano, Yautepec, Fifty24mx, Jesús Villafán from Oaxaca, No Name Gallery from Guadalajara, and the Veracruz Institute of Culture featuring winning artists in last year´s Veracruz Biennale. Among them, countries such as Cuba with Galería Avistamientos and Guatemala with Arthis, will take part.

Reynerio Tamayo, La Ola. Courtesy of Avistamientos.

Affordable Art Fair México will present a Young Talent Show where people will have the chance to discover masterpieces by young artists who just started their careers. The exhibition is part of the Educational Program supported by AXA, and will be showing the work of new artists selected through an open call held during September by Cultura Colectiva, in order to encourage the career or these young artists and provide greater visibility for them in this field.

Another aspect of the Educational Program will be the print workshops in which the public can learn about the processes behind the different techniques and learn how to create their own works of art.
For the youngest there is also place inside Affordable Art Fair, an educational space that seeks to encourage and facilitate the creative development of children and youth through art.

This first edition will also have great allies to foster affordable contemporary art in Mexico in a fun way. There will be talks and lectures with renowned speakers and topics for both beginners and professionals in art. All these activities will be offered at no extra cost to the attendees.

Undoubtedly, Affordable Art Fair México will be a come to revolutionize not only the way we appreciate art, but also the way we enjoy it, live it and buy it.

The Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff celebrates 52 years of artistic excellence at Lake Bluff Park in 2013, overlooking Lake Michigan. The festival draws crowds from Chicago, northern Indiana, Grand Rapids and other nearby cities.
Comments from participating artists:
  • "In this age when most art shows think they can "improve" their shows by bringing in carnivals and petting zoos, Krasl has not forgotten that it is about the artists and kept their focus on that."
  • "The community support is overwhelmingly the best of any show I do. Out of doing 25+shows a year, this is the one that I look forward to. A big thank you to the pastry chef for the 'BEST' calories ever and the Boulevard Inn for the artist discounted rate."
  • "I just wanted to thank you for having me in your show. The award I won was such an honor! I had a great show both in terms of sales and the fun factor. You and your staff of volunteers do such a great job with the show. It was such a pleasure being part of such a well run event. I also wanted to thank you for finding a host family for me to stay with while I was in St. Joseph. My host family was wonderful too. I look forward to next year"

STEADY SALES AND UPBEAT MOOD AT THE SECOND ANNUAL artMRKT HAMPTONS

STEADY SALES AND UPBEAT MOOD AT THE SECOND ANNUAL artMRKT HAMPTONS
Jon Bon Jovi, Edie Falco and Nina Garcia Join the 7000-Strong Crowd of Attendees At This Year's Fair

BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY (July 21, 2012) – The second annual artMRKT Hamptons, founded by Max Fishko and Jeffrey Wainhause, closed on a high note this past Sunday, with exhibitors reporting steady sales and strong attendance throughout the weekend. The well-heeled Hamptons crowd strolled through the tent on the Bridgehampton Historical Society grounds -- some with canine pals in tow -- scooping up works ranging from sculpture to works on paper, to paintings and photography. Further proof that East Enders considered this a “must attend” event -- over 1500 collectors and art enthusiasts attended the preview night party and guest numbers topped 7000 in total for the weekend.

Throughout the weekend, notables including Musician/Actor Jon Bon Jovi, Actress Edie Falco, Marie Claire Fashion Editor and “Project Runway” Judge Nina Garcia, society figures Kathy and Richard Hilton and Bonnie Engelbardt Lautenberg, TV Reality Star and Interior Decorator Dina Manzo, Jewelry Designer Jennifer Miller, Broadway Producer Stewart Lane (“War Horse” and “Priscilla Queen of the Desert”) as well as Producer and Actress Bonnie Comley strolled the tent in search of their next art purchase.

According to Jay Lehman of Morgan Lehman Gallery, “The treatment gallerists receive is exceptional and is something that one typically expects only from the big fairs. Jeff and Max are ambitious and their efforts produce results.  More people came through this year and they were serious collectors. The scale of the show made it easy for visitors to feel relaxed and focused.”  Kevin Havelton of Aureus Contemporary said, “We sold out of most of our largest works and estimate that 80 percent of sales were to new clients.”

Local as well as international galleries reported successful outcomes with painting, photography and works on paper accounting for the bulk of sales throughout the weekend. Several large-scale items were sold at JHB Gallery, including two hand-cut paper works by Jaq Belcher and a John Noestheden silver crystal on paper piece. Sag Harbor gallerist Karen Boltax sold works by several artists including a Regina Scully canvas and a work on paper in addition to three works by Peter Opheim, Sylvia Hommert and Jackie Black. Italian gallery Arte Nova sold a large-scale photo by renowned photographer Massimo Vitali.  Morgan Lehman reported sales of several works by Nancy Lorenz and photographer David Allee and, in addition, has several clients doing studio visits with painter Ryan Wallace as a result of their participation in the fair. New York gallerist Eli Klein reported strong sales and Nancy Margolis made several new clients and garnered a large-scale outdoor commission for artist Eva Hild as a result of her participation in artMRKT Hamptons.

Launched by Fishko and Wainhause in 2011 to create an intimate and thoughtfully-curated fair in the Hamptons, the 2012 edition featured 41 galleries -- up from 35 in its inaugural year --representing over 400 artists.  Dealers and visitors complimented organizers for establishing a manageably sized show which was described as both “inviting” and “enjoyable.”  As well, Terrie Sultan, director of the Parrish Museum commented, “the Fair looked wonderful -- there were very good galleries exhibiting a very high caliber selection of artworks.”  She added, “Max and Jeff are doing all the right things and their enthusiasm for the Parrish and the East End community should be applauded.”

Sultan’s sentiments were echoed by the exhibitors who uniformly cited the support and enthusiasm of the artMRKT team.  According to Peter of Peter Mendenhall Gallery, “The attentiveness of Max, Jeff and the rest of the team is unparalleled.  They make it worthwhile to do art fairs.”

“This weekend’s event once again proved that there is a need and a great opportunity for a contemporary fair like artMRKT – one that is convenient, well curated and comfortable,” says Max Fishko of artMRKT. “We are very much looking forward to next year’s outing.”

artMRKT Hamptons Fair

artMRKT Hamptons - July 19-22, 2012
artMRKT Hamptons - July 19-22, 2012
www.art-mrkt.com/hamptons
As the artMRKT Hamptons fair quickly approaches, I would like to take a moment and highlight a number of the show’s developments involving our exhibitors, cultural partners and sponsors.

Opening Night Preview Barbecue to Benefit Parrish Art Museum
Our Opening Night Benefit for the Parrish Art Museum is going to be something truly special this year. We are proud to be working with noted Brooklyn chef Leon Gunn to welcome the Parrish Art Museum members, donors and board to our preview event on Thursday, July 19th. An alumni of Wolfgang Puck, Aria, Noho Star and Williamsburg Brooklyn’s Traif restaurants, Leon will be serving up his refined take on the quintessential Hamptons dining experience, the summer barbecue. Together with our supporting sponsors, we look forward to producing a fantastic evening for our partners, dealers and guests. It is our honor and pleasure to produce our Opening Night Preview to benefit the Parrish Art Museum. We would like to extend a special thanks to Terrie Sultan along with all of the Parrish Art Museum board and staff for their support.

Exhibiting Galleries
It is our sincere pleasure to be working with great New York dealers P.P.O.W., Lennon Weinberg, DC Moore Gallery, Meulensteen, Forum Gallery, Morgan Lehman, Envoy Enterprises, Lyons Wier, Nancy Hoffman, Dean Project, Eric Firestone Gallery, Halsey Mckay Gallery, Allegra LaViola Gallery, Keyes Art Projects and Kathryn Markel Fine Arts. 101/Exhibit from Miami, AUREUS Contemporary from Providence and Mindy Solomon Gallery from St. Petersburg return for a second year along with newcomer David Lusk Gallery. We would like to thank Karen Boltax of Boltax Gallery for her time and dedication serving as our local Hamptons advisor.

The Premier Location and Venue
artMRKT Hamptons returns to the Bridgehampton Historical Society grounds which are conveniently located in the heart of Bridgehampton on Montauk Highway (Rt. 27). A short and familiar drive from all parts of the Hamptons, the area serves as a central shopping and dining destination that sees thousands pass through on a typical summer weekend. This year's venue will feature several upgrades including a laser-leveled floor, larger marquis and an improved layout. Limited to 40 galleries, artMRKT Hamptons will afford exhibitors a chance to engage a large audience in a spacious and relaxed setting.

New Cultural, Media and Promotional Partnerships
We look forward to working with our returning 2011 cultural partners the Bay Street Theatre, Children’s Museum of the East End, Nature Conservancy, Southampton Hospital and of course a special welcome goes to our new partners Artadia, Lower East Side Print Shop and the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation. It's partnerships like these that make our fairs one-of-a-kind.

We are proud to welcome several new media sponsors, Hamptons Cottage & Gardens, Hamptons Magazine and VENU Magazine. They join last year's national media sponsors such as The Art Newspaper and Modern Painters as well as last year's local media sponsors, The New York Observer, Dan's Papers, Hampton Jitney's NextStop Magazine, Social Life Magazine and Hamptons.com. We are also excited to announce several new targeted marketing efforts in local cultural publications which will include Guild Hall's Summer Program Guide.

Cadillac returns to sponsor artMRKT Hamptons and Sotheby's International Homes joins us as our Exclusive Realty Partner. Sotheby's will be helping promote artMRKT Hamptons by engaging its extensive database of Hamptons' homeowners. Several other large promotional partnerships are in the works and will be announced shortly.

MRKTworks Auction Program
In an effort to intergrate our fair into the landscape of the Hamptons and give back to the community, artMRKT has developed an innovative program called MRKTworks. Here, artMRKT will present a series of contemporary works for sale through a unique blend of an online and live auction platform, with the work’s corresponding non-profit beneficiary receiving 100% of the proceeds. The auction will begin online July 5th and will conclude July 22nd at the fair. We are thrilled to name the Bay Street Theatre, Children’s Museum of the East End, Nature Conservancy and Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation as our 2012 artMRKT Hamptons MRKTworks beneficiaries.

For more information and to apply online visit www.art-mrkt.com/hamptons.

Crown Valley Winery, Missouri's premier winery, inaugurates  the Crown Valley Art Fair with outstanding artist services, high-profile marketing to the public and selective emphasis on offering quality artwork to a discriminating public.  The winery is visited by between 5,000 and 7,000 area residents each weekend, many from the affluent suburbs and communities in St. Louis, seventy-five miles north.
