VIMEO MAKES FIRST ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING INVESTMENT IN SERIES “HIGH MAINTENANCE”

VIMEO MAKES FIRST ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING INVESTMENT IN SERIES
“HIGH MAINTENANCE”

Acclaimed Web Series High Maintenance To Premiere Six New Episodes Exclusively On Vimeo On Demand

NEW YORK, May 29, 2014 – Vimeo today announced its first original programming project with the signing of High Maintenance, the critically acclaimed web series from the husband-and-wife team Katja Blichfeld and Ben Sinclair. As part of the deal, Vimeo will finance six new episodes to launch exclusively on Vimeo On Demand (vimeo.com/ondemand).

Award-winning casting director Katja Blichfeld (30 Rock), actor and editor Ben Sinclair (Delocated, 30 Rock, A Gifted Man, Law & Order: SVU, The Big C, Next Caller) and manager Russell Gregory at Regarding Entertainment first debuted High Maintenance on Vimeo in 2013. The 13-episode series, produced by Janky Clown Productions, follows a nameless cannabis dealer (Sinclair) as he delivers his product to clients with neuroses as diverse as the city they live in. Critics have regarded it as a “must watch” original web series for its well-crafted storylines and rotating cast that has included Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens and comedian Hannibal Buress.

“We’re all huge fans of High Maintenance and couldn’t be happier to make our first original programming investment in a show that’s developed organically on Vimeo,” said Kerry Trainor, CEO, Vimeo. “Earlier this year we announced an initial $10 Million investment to license content for distribution on Vimeo On Demand from creators seeking alternatives to ad-based models and this is an exciting next step for the platform.”

"We're elated to be working directly with Vimeo to make our series with the creative control a television network would never afford us.  Vimeo is a platform that truly celebrates filmmaking," said series creators Blichfeld and Sinclair.

The new episodes are expected to launch later this year with the release schedule and pricing yet to be determined. In the meantime, viewers can catch the first 13 episodes of High Maintenance for free on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/channels/highmaintenance.

Katja Blichfeld and Ben Sinclair are represented by Gregory McKnight at CAA, and Kim Jaime at Jackoway Tyerman.

SUPPORTING CROWDFUNDED FILMS

Crowdfunded filmmakers to receive free PRO accounts and access to newly created $500K Audience Development Fund for distribution on Vimeo On Demand

PARK CITY, UT, JANUARY 16, 2014 – Vimeo today announced it is deepening its commitment to the global direct film distribution movement by giving creators who have successfully raised $10,000 or more through crowdfunding platforms access to tools and funds to bring their projects to market on Vimeo.
To creators of distribution-ready films, Vimeo will grant free one-year PRO accounts and access to a  $500,000 Audience Development Fund to help select filmmakers market their projects. Vimeo’s curation team will review qualifying films on leading crowdfunding platforms, including Indiegogo, Kickstarter and Seed&Spark, and select projects to receive PRO accounts and an advance for marketing support. Vimeo will partner with these filmmakers to create campaigns on and off Vimeo.com to broaden film exposure and grow audiences in exchange for an exclusive digital premiere window for distribution on Vimeo On Demand.
“Vimeo is committed to empowering filmmakers with the world’s best platform for direct distribution,” said Vimeo General Manager of Audience Networks, Greg Clayman. “While crowdfunding has changed the game in getting films made, Vimeo is taking the next step supporting filmmakers to get their work seen and purchased on Vimeo and across the web.”
Vimeo On Demand is the quality direct distribution solution that enables all Vimeo PRO subscribers to sell work on their own terms. Through Vimeo, creators are able to choose their price, viewing format (stream or download), and geographical availability while retaining full ownership of their work. Earlier this month Vimeo added in-player transaction support, allowing creators to sell their work on their own sites or embedded across the web.

“Empowering creators to make money from their videos is a logical next step for Vimeo as a service and an opportunity to expand the overall marketplace for video creators and viewers,” said Vimeo CEO Kerry Trainor. “Established creators and emerging talent alike can connect directly with their audiences without the need to conform to industry standards around video format, price or timing releases.”
Vimeo’s Tip Jar enables video creators to crowdsource funds to support works directly from their viewers. Tip Jar will allow anyone to give tips before, during or after watching a video; Vimeo will pay 85 percent of the gross revenue to the creator. Starting today, Vimeo Plus or Pro members can choose to activate Tip Jar.
Vimeo’s pay-to-view service will be an open platform for video creators to sell access to their films and videos. Vimeo will begin rolling out its pay-to-view service in beta preview this fall with a curated series of films. Vimeo will make the pay-to-view service available to all Vimeo PRO subscribers in early 2013.
“Creators have asked us for quite some time to help them monetize their work, but we think it needed an approach that put the controls back into the hands of the creators themselves,” said Dae Mellencamp, President of Vimeo. “We designed these tools to allow video creators to be as flexible as possible while providing the ability to financially succeed at various levels of viewership.”

VIMEO FESTIVAL + AWARDS!!

SUBMISSIONS OPEN FOR THE SECOND VIMEO® FESTIVAL + AWARDS

New $5,000 Grants for Category Winners and $25,000 for the Grand Prize Winner; New Categories Introduced for Fashion, Action Sports, Advertising, and Lyrical Videos

NEW YORK, Dec. 13, 2011 – Vimeo®, an operating business of IAC [NASDAQ: IACI], opened submissions today for the second Vimeo Festival + Awards, which celebrates the most creative and original videos online, as well as the individuals who make them. Vimeo will award Grants of $5,000 to all of the category winners as well as awarding a Grant of $25,000 for the Grand Prize winner.

“Since our inaugural event, we have watched online video explode into a primary medium for new talent discovery,” said Jeremy Boxer, Director of the Vimeo Festival + Awards. “More and more creators earn visibility, credibility and, ultimately, work by showcasing their videos online. We created the Vimeo Festival + Awards to celebrate the best of the best of these videos.”

Beginning today through February 20, 2012, filmmakers can submit their works for consideration in one of 13 different judged categories. With the continued exponential growth of quality online video, Vimeo is recognizing four new categories:

·      Fashion: Fashion photographers are exploring creative filmmaking, blurring the line between fashion and art. Similarly, designers are able to bring to life the mood and inspiration behind their collections in greater detail and with more emotion than through still photos.

·      Action Sports: As lightweight, durable, and wearable HD cameras have become more accessible, adventurers, athletes, and documentarians can go anywhere while filming it all.

·      Advertising: Due to the high volume of content online, advertisers have been forced to become increasingly creative in order to reach audiences. As a result, many people now seek out commercial films as standalone entertainment.

·      Lyrical: This category celebrates videos that showcase the natural world or personal experience using a dramatic creative style. With filmmaking techniques such as slow motion and time lapse now increasingly available, these videos provide thought-provoking and oftentimes heart-wrenching windows into other people's worlds.

A full list of the video categories can be found at www.vimeo.com/awards. An independent jury will judge entries, which includes all of the category winners from 2010 as well as two industry luminaries/experts per category. Vimeo released the following jury members for its newest categories: Stacy Peralta for Action Sports, David Droga for Advertising, Nick Knight for Fashion, and Phillip Bloom for Lyrical. Vimeo plans to release the full jury in January.

Vimeo will accept submissions from December 13, 2011 through February 20, 2012 for a $20 (U.S.) fee per video ($5 for Vimeo Plus and PRO members) at www.vimeo.com/awards. Entrants can submit any original work that premiered anywhere online between July 31, 2010 and February 20, 2012 or any original work that has never been premiered before.  All entries must comply with the Official Rules of the Vimeo Festival + Awards. For more information on the Vimeo Festival + Awards, please visit www.vimeo.com/awards.
