On the occasion of its participation to Venice Glass Week 2026, Galerie Negropontes expands Reflections on Brancusi, the exhibition inaugurated earlier this year to mark the 150th anniversary of Constantin Brancusi’s birth, with a new selection of works dedicated to the language of glass. Curated by Galerie Negropontes in collaboration with Heritage Asset Management, Reflections on Brancusi unfolds across the three floors of the Palazzina Masieri. Throughout the exhibition, Dan Er. Grigorescu’s photographs of Brancusi’s sculptures—presented at the Romanian Pavilion of the 1982 Venice Biennale— are shown in dialogue with works by contemporary artists represented by the gallery. Together, they reveal Brancusi’s legacy not as a historical monument but as a living source of inspiration whose essential principles—purity of form, formal tension, verticality and the intimate relationship between material and space—continue to inform contemporary artistic practice. | |

For Venice Glass Week, this dialogue is enriched by the unveiling of a new series of glass sculptures by Mircea Cantor, presented to the public for the first time. Internationally recognised for a multidisciplinary practice encompassing sculpture, photography, drawing, film and installation, Cantor explores glass as a natural extension of his artistic vocabulary. Transparency, fragility and light become vehicles for themes that have long shaped his work—memory, spirituality, transformation and the transmission of cultural narratives. While introducing a new material into his practice, these sculptures retain the formal clarity and poetic intensity that establish a profound resonance with Brancusi’s sculptural vision. | |

The exhibition is further complemented by a series of glass sculptures by Perrin & Perrin. Composed of stacked geometric elements whose transparency constantly shifts with natural light, these vertical sculptures evoke both architectural structures and ritual objects. In this dialogue between sculpture and architecture, the material becomes both structure and light. Integrated into the existing exhibition, these new works extend its reflection on glass as a sculptural medium capable of transforming space through transparency, reflection and luminosity. Rather than simply introducing a new material, they deepen the exhibition’s central themes, demonstrating how Brancusi’s understanding of sculpture continues to inspire contemporary artists across disciplines and techniques. | |
